2022-23 Fees at Jamberoo Golf Club

A big thank you goes out to our members for their patience and understanding during the worst ever flooding experienced by the club. Three inundations within a month was too much for the course to handle and it has taken great effort from our greens team to get the course back to looking like a golf course. Many people have congratulated their efforts as illustrated in a recent comment by member Ron Hewson.

I recently had 2 rounds on the shortened course after it had been opened up and it is an absolute credit to Nick and his Green Staff for their efforts over the last couple of months to get the course back to some sort of normality after the recent record rainfall. Sometimes their efforts go unrecognised and the hard work put in by these people should be highly commended.
A personal thank-you from myself and here’s hoping for some clear drying weather to fully reopen the remaining holes and ask that our members patronise our club during this transitional period back to having it fully playable.

Ron Hewson, member

Cart usage was almost possible last Saturday and without the heavy rainfall this week we may well have had the course just about fully playable. The collapsed bank in front of the 16th green will be an issue and will become an excluded no-entry zone while it is repaired. Entry to this area will result in immediate disqualification.

A drop zone will be set up for use if your ball goes into this excluded area.

Also once carts are allowed back on the course they will not be allowed over the bridge at 16. Park before the bridge and walk to the 16th green and 17th tee.

New Membership fees announced for 2022-23

Jamberoo Golf Club will remain the best valued golf club in the district after it was announced last Monday that the annual fees will be set at $620 which is only a 3.3% rise on last year’s fees. This is well below the CPI rise for the last year of 5.1%.

The fees become payable on May 31.

Membership Invoices are available at the club.

Quite a few members have requested that the balance of their trophy account be taken from their fees and if you wish this then please inform the Office as you pay. [*some have already been deducted automatically]. The ball credits at $2.50 per credit can also be used to reduce your final membership fee amount.

News from the Course – May 10

Unfortunately overnight and morning rain has caused the course to be closed today and Wednesday.

More news on the state of the course as it becomes available.

This further 20 ml of rain adds to the yearly total of 1786.5 ml we have recorded in the first 4 months of the year. Compare this total with the total from 2021 of 1475.5 ml. For April we had 382 ml compared to the 2021 total of 13.5 ml.

Anzac Day at Jamberoo Golf Club

Ken Holt celebrates Anzac Day proudly with his Father’s medals

Anzac Day at our club is traditionally celebrated with a morning stableford following on from the dawn service. This year we managed to hold the event despite the heavy course conditions and shortened course. 35 players gathered for the round.

Winner on the day was Hay visitor Mitch Rosser with 26 points. Stephen Gemmill was second with 24 points and Phillip Hahn third with 23 points.

William Perry, Phil Gosling, Scott Gillett, Col Booth and Ken Holt all managed to win a ball with 22 or 21 points.

Champagne Golf set to return after the big wet.

With winter fast approaching and the end of daylight saving it is planned to restart Champagne Golf on a Saturday afternoon at 1pm for Winter play commencing in the next few weeks.

Course Re-Opens Saturday

The good news is that a 14 hole course will be in play this Saturday. A Medley Stableford will be contested.

Order of Play

Starting on 1, then 3, 4, 10, 8, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18.

The 17th hole will be played from a shortened tee as a par 3. Look for the tee down the fairway. It will measure 120 metres.

Daily Local Rules

1 club length preferred lies in the general area (ie fairways and rough).

Any ball on a ‘brown patch’ is in GUR and can be lifted off that area before taking a preferred lie.

Balls can be cleaned before taking your preferred lie.

Bunkers will be in play.

No carts or motorised vehicles allowed.

Use your handicap shot allocation for each hole, ie the black dots.

Do not enter your cards into the computer.

Course still Closed

The disappointing news is that the course is still closed up to and including Thursday. A further inspection will take place on Friday morning.

So far this year in the first 4 months 1786.5 ml of rain has fallen, compared to 1457.5ml in all of 2021.

April rain fall 382 ml to 13.5ml same month in 2021.

The light rain we are having is topping up the wet areas, with little dry up.
