Supershot Sweepstakes.

The ‘Supershot’ hole will now vary between the 7th, 9th and 13th holes. Currently it is being contested on the 9th hole. A ‘nearest the pin’ contest will be held on the 13th.

The way the “Supershot Sweepstakes” is run has changed. To enter you must sign the sheet as usual and then put a $2 coin (or equivalent) in the box held by the starter. No EFT or card payment will be accepted for the supershot. No change will be given.

Nobody under the age of 18 should enter.

All money paid on entry will be returned to the winner.

The winner will be notified on the “Results page” and must collect their winnings within the next week from Monday during Office hours after first signing a receipt.

Our first lucky winner was Nathan Medland with a shot to 158 cm. Your prize will be available Monday.

  1. Hi Dave
Can you tell me why its a first-come, first served basis for the Jamberoo Ambrose open . I understand its an open , But why aren’t members given first choice, or is that the way the people in power think of its membership.
    Thanks Craig

    1. That is far from the truth and I am disappointed that you think it so. Members are always our number one priority and everything your Board does is designed to improve members experiences on the course and in the club.
All members were given a months warning in the Cow and on the noticeboard that bookings for this special day could be made from 1pm on September 8 by ringing the starter. If you waited for the 8 day window then you might miss out on your early starter. Many members took advantage of this. See articles published in the DC on August 28 and on Facebook on August 25.
I recycled this old notice on Friday to remind members again that early bookings are going fast.
This event is heavily supported by our platinum + sponsor who wants as many visitors as possible to play to promote the club. Sometimes, very occasionally, members need to be flexible. This is one of those days. Other clubs in the district close their course for days on end to members so that they can run tournaments.
Please be patient and talk to me personally on Monday if you need some help booking in. I would only be too pleased to assist.

      1. Hi Dave
I was there today . I’am glad your disappointed now you know how some of the members feel. As you say they want as many visitors as possible. I would have thought it should be as many members as possible first then visitors. As for other course been closed for days , the course was closed for months for the floods. so what’s your point.
Would have like to talk face to face as there are a lot of members very disappointed with the way things are going. It seems iam the only one willing to speak up.
        Craig

        1. Sorry Craig I just missed you Monday. It would be a pleasure to talk to you. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and value your input.

Many clubs suffered from the floods of course as much as we did, the Grange, Calderwood, Gerringong and Port Kembla being four. Some like Kiama and The Heads were less affected due to their location on sand near the beach. Clubs like the Links and Wollongong and Port are often used for multi-day tournaments by the PGA and Golf Australia and Golf NSW. On those days their members need to find other places to play as their course is closed. Those clubs don’t mind as they are well compensated and their course is given a high profile driving their membership numbers, etc.

Again your comments are welcome and although I am not the Captain of the club and designer of policies anymore (for the last two years), members suggestions and comments are very important.

You can contact me anytime. I’ll try and get there a little earlier next Monday.

  2. Hello David
With the ability that our new booking system has to operate days or weeks in advance I would like to know why the booking sheets for major events are not opened to members to book on-line until 7 days prior till it officially opened. I am aware that one can ring the club starter to book earlier but why if our current computer system can accomodate earlier bookings.

    1. Pat,
I am not sure about the computer system’s capability. It will need somebody to research it.

    2. I may have found out how to do as you suggest Pat. If you could look at the events to be played on the 28th, 29th, and 30th of September you may be able to book in early. Please inform me if it works.

      1. Hello David
Have just booked tee time for mixed foursomes, no problem with your adjustment to booking sheet.
        Thanks Dave.
        Kind regards

        1. It is all new for all of us and there are very few instructions on how the program works. Trial and error sometimes I guess?

          1. Hi there Dave or Directors… just a follow up on the booking times… Our group has noticed that on 30 th Sept ( vets day). None of us put our names down for this, yet our group has been rolled over..The names were in last Thursday and I personally cannot play on this day, so I deleted my name on Thursday. Then when I checked again on Saturday, there were no bookings for the 30 th. Now today, BEFORE 6.00 pm, they are back. I think these bookings are being rolled over by someone on a regular basis, as I mentioned before, because normally when we ALL try to log in at 6.00 pm on the countdown, there are EVERY WEEK, same names, same times coming up EVERY WEEK. We cannot be missing out by nano seconds every week and they cannot be getting their names in every week by nano seconds..This cannot be a coincidence EVERY WEEK. Can someone look into this please?
