Commiserations to Alan Jones for a near miss on the seventh only centimetres from scoring an ace Partner Tracey Watson appreciated the easy “pensioner” putt. Interestingly they had scored a disastrous 17 on the previous hole!
Ah Golf!!
Congratulations to the winning teams and thanks to all of our competitors who entered this important championship.
Mens Individual Matchplay.
Last Friday the final of the Mens Matchplay was contested between Peter Hackett and Pat Paris. Both had progressed through the rounds with little trouble so it was going to be interesting to see who would handle the pressure of the final.
It turned out to be a very tight match between the two experienced match players, with Pat’s prowess with the short game on show against the slightly larger handicap of the consistent Peter.
In the end it was Pat who blinked first, 3 putting the 17th hole to give Peter a 1 up lead going to the 18th.
Peter held his nerve and successfully matched Pat on the last hole to record a 1 up win.
Well played to two very deserved finalists.
