The Staff and Directors of Jamberoo Golf Club wish all members and their families a very Merry Christmas.
Please stay safe and use your masks while indoors, shopping or while in a crowd.
Veterans Christmas BBQ
I have had many members express their congratulations to the organisers of this years event. A fun day on the course, a free beer and snag, great conversation and fellowship with their mates and then taking home some goodies as well!
The winners of the competition on the day were:
Div 1 Winners: Half Ham Ron Chilby 39 pts Turkey Roast Col Booth 38 pts Pork Roast Ian Unsworth 37 pts Ham Roll Ken Bradley 36 pts (c/b)
Div 2 Winners: Half Ham Alvin Ray 41 pts Turkey Roast Jim Robb 37 pts (c/b) Pork Roast Al Thomas 37 pts Ham Roll Paul Tucker 35 pts
Div 3 Winners: Half Ham Pat Travers 40 pts Turkey Roast Rhonda McKinley 37 pts (c/b) Pork Roast Barry Gibbons 37 pts Ham Roll Kerrie Bickle (The Links) 36 pts (c/b).
Pat Travers, in a very generous gesture, donated his ham back to the club and it will be awarded on Monday in the Christmas Medley event to the Jamberoo member with the best stableford score. One last chance for members who have been HAMpered this year!
On the day, Greg Seymour was announced as the winner of the Barry Walker Shield for player of the year having the greatest number of stableford points in his best 15 rounds. Greg has moved to Queensland and his presence will be missed.
Well done to the Vets committee – Stuart Potter, Lance Fredericks and Col Booth and to the many helpers on the day. A very successful club day.
A special commendation goes to Chris Goodwin for his dedication and inspirational leadership in managing the Veterans and the Trevor Bell Shield at Jamberoo for the last several years.
Next year the Vets season will run from January to September, and in the future from September to September.
The ‘Vets Rewards’ will return with a ham available to all those Vet members who qualify by playing the designated number of rounds.
See you all in the new year.
CHOOKS
Unfortunately a lot of the Vet members were not aware that that had qualified for a chicken on the day and we were left with quite a few. A battery of chooks one might say. We have frozen about 30 and they currently reside in several freezers about Jamberoo.
Any Vet golfer who wants one, please leave your name with the Starters or Office and you can have it.
Other members can earn one too if they can tell me which came first, the chicken or the egg?
A great day was had by all.
Rod Hodkinson our starter, done a fantastic job in getting everyone off on time and out on the course. Congratulations Rod a Sterling Effort..
Merry Christmas to all the Directors, committee personnel, our starters and finally our Hard working Green staff under the guidance of Nick ( keeping our course in tip top condition).
A very Merry Christmas and most of all a Happy and Healthy New Year to our valued members and a big thank you to all of those who I have had the pleasure of playing with during the year..
All the best to you as well Ron and to all our members and their families and friends.
