An Ace and an Eagle.

Despite not being able to utilise motorised carts today 59 members took advantage of the clearing weather and enjoyed their round of golf on foot.

Some very impressive scoring on the day with Ben White and Ken Holt both firing very competitive scores of 40 points. Ben was successful on a countback with his back nine of 22 points proving the difference. Hans Kaer on 39 managed third with Lee Hayward next with 38 points. Ryan Dorahy and Don Thompson both fired 37 points. Not to be outdone, April Van Woerkom scored an excellent 39 points in the Ladies section.

Very impressive scoring today indeed!

Hans Kaer also had great reason to celebrate with his perfectly played wedge on the 13th. Landing behind the pin, Hans’ ball spun back and curved neatly into the hole. Unfortunately for Hans he did not enter the ‘Supershot’. He will however get his ball mounted onto a permanent trophy, receive 6 balls into his account and be awarded a bottle of St Hallett’s wine and commemoration cap.

Ryan Dorahy took advantage of Hans’ failure to enter the Supershot winning the $64 prize with a shot to 101 cm.

David Garcia also had reason to celebrate with an eagle 2 on the 8th hole. Having reached the green with his monster drive David holed the putt to record the eagle. Three extra balls to his account as a reward for a great shot.

Mens Hams Day to be replayed Saturday December 18.

With all hams to be delivered on Monday December 20, our last chance to play this important club day is next Saturday. If you are fortunate to win a ham then please be available to pick it up on the Monday as the club does not have any cold storage space.

The day will be played in grades, with the best stableford score winning a full ham, and the winners and runners up in each grade winning half hams. Special prizes will be awarded for nearest the pin and drive and pitch as well. The ‘Supershot’ and ‘eagles nest’ will be played as normal.

If for any reason we cancel the round due to bad weather then a draw will be made from all the competition entrants to award the hams.

Eagles Nest on the third.

Make sure you know what the target distance is to win the Eagles nest. It is played every Saturday instead of the normal nearest the pin on the third hole.

If you are not sure and hit it close, do as Bernie did today, and record it anyway just in case.

Next week the Jackpot is 9 balls for the first shot within 45 cm.
