News From the Course 18 August

REMINDER – AGM.

Members are reminded that the AGM of the members of Jamberoo Golf Club will be held in the upstairs auditorium of Club Jamberoo on Tuesday 23rd of August at 7.30 pm.

At this meeting the annual financial report will be presented to members by the auditor.

The results of the nominations for Directors will be confirmed and the President will present his report.

Drop Zone on the Ninth

“A drop zone has been created near the ‘footgolf’ hole for those balls coming to rest in the GUR.”

There is no mention of ‘compulsory’ in the rule and, like all GUR situations, the ball can be played where it lies if you wish or moved to the drop zone. The GUR is not fairway and so no preferred lie can be taken if you take the first option.

This ruling has been confirmed by Women’s Captain, Judi O’Brien, in her conditions for play in the upcoming Women’s Championship [see below].

2022 Champions Crowned

A very interesting day with late charges narrowly avoided, successful final round chases and close scoring throughout the grades.

The third round is normally considered to be ‘moving day’ but some giant moves were made today under the pressure of the final round.

Saturday Roundup

Bob Wright aces the 11th

A sweetly timed 3 hybrid did the trick for Bob today on the 11th hole.

Bob is rightly proud of his achievement and is to be congratulated for the perfect shot.

Bob (on the right) celebrating his ace with playing partner Chris Leckey.

For his efforts Bob will be enrolled onto the Jamberoo Golf Club Hole-in-One honour board. He will receive 6 balls from the club and have his ball mounted onto a permanent trophy that will take pride of place at his home.

Bob has also scored his ace on the Just Bathrooms designated hole for August and will receive another $40 for his perfect shot.

Well played Bob.

John Hol wins the 2022 Stableford Salver

Congratulations to John Hol who was successful in winning the 2022 Stableford Salver for those not involved in the stroke championship event. John’s 35 points was enough to win on a countback from Robyn Gregson. Don Thompson was close on 34 points. Daily prizes went to Kiama visitors Mitch Nevins and Jackson Norris who also shot 35 points.

Championship Prize Allocations

All involved in tomorrow’s final round should be aware that a player can only win one prize. This means that you may trail the leader in your grade by 20 but still have a great chance for a different prize.

Prizes are awarded in the following order.

Champion of a grade $200, Nett winner of a grade $150, Gross Runner up in a grade $100, Nett runner up in a grade $100, 3rd Gross in a grade $50 Drummond Golf voucher, 3rd Nett in a grade $20 Drummond Golf voucher.

Round 3 Championship Standings

A Grade

Ben McEvoy seems to have a stranglehold on the A grade club championship leading David Garcia by 18 shots [221 to 239]. Ken Bradley on 248 has a slight advantage over Pete Munro on 249 with Brad Rimmer next on 252.

Ben McEvoy

Ben leads the nett on 212 followed closely by David and Ken on 215. Pete on 219, Brad on 222 and Chris Leckey on 224.

B Grade

Paul Henderson leads the B grade gross on 270, 3 ahead of Peter Francis with Wayne Griffiths on 275, Ron Chilby on 276 and Jake Willoughby next on 277. It will be a close battle this year to win the B grade Championship.

Paul Henderson

In the nett, Peter has retaken the lead on 216, but is closely followed by Wayne on 218, Paul on 219, and Jake on 220. Phil Adams, Brett Fielding and Ron Chilby are also close on 225.

C Grade

C grade is also very tight with Ron Hewson jumping to the lead on 288, Scott Lacey and Greg Quigg, with both of them playing well on 291, Bob Wright charging on 292 following his ace today, along with Vince Brynes, who has a determined look in his eye.

Ron Hewson

For the nett, Greg has established a 6 stroke lead on 213 over Ron and Scott on 219 with Bob and Vice well placed on 220. Renato Franciskovic on 230 should not be discounted following his good round today.

As you can see it is all to play for in tomorrow’s final round.

Good luck everybody.

5th and 9th holes back in play from Wednesday

Both the 5th and 9th holes are back in play ending the playing of the composite course.

Major work has been completed near the ninth green with root barriers installed around the green. This also required the relaying of turf on the surrounds which are presently GUR.

A drop zone has been created near the ‘footgolf’ hole for those balls coming to rest in the GUR.

The 5th hole is still damp. especially near the little mound. Plugged balls can be lifted, cleaned and replaced.

30 cm preferred lies on fairways are still allowed. Other temporary local rules remain the same as the weekend.
