PLEASE LOOK AFTER OUR GREENS

The Greens on our course are showing a need for more care from the users – the Players!

Following recent rains and heavy summer watering, the Greens appear softer with a resulting increase in pitch mark damage. Please repair your pitch mark and any other you see nearby. Don’t forget that if your ball comes to rest at the back of the Green, the pitch mark may be at the front and still needs repairing.

Another problem is the scuffing of the green by spikes / sprigs – particularly around the hole. Every effort should be made to keep your feet away from the hole, and, after your group has putted out, tap down the spike scuffs. Remember, the Rules of Golf do not allow you to repair spike marks before you putt out (only pitch marks).

Please take care and good golfing.

  1. Some of the greens have been badly scuffed recently. They look like someone has done an Irish jig around the hole – or they packed a rugby scrum.
People with new or elongated sprigs should be more aware of the damage they are doing and be aware of where they are putting their feet.
It doesn’t take much to pat down your sprig marks after you have putted out

  2. It appears that some players are still using metal spikes. This makes it very difficult for afternoon players who have to try and putt over chopped up greens. Please repair those spike marks.

  3. Now that we are all looking after our greens could we also start to look after the TEES.
This will ensure better TEES thru the slow growing season and give our OVERWORKED Greens Staff some help.
I will get an instructional video released shortly but untill I do, just fill the holes you dig in the TEES the same as you do on the fairways and give yourself a BIG SMILEY.
