Covid-19 Reminders

In response to the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, the following rules are being reintroduced:

  • Mask wearing is required in all indoor settings including in the Golf Shop and is recommended in outdoor areas around the clubhouse and in the carpark
  • Maintain your 1.5m social distance from other players at all times
  • COVID-Safe check-ins will be required by all players
  • You should remain seated while eating and drinking at the club
  • Make sure you stay safe by getting your booster shot.
  • If you’re aged 18 or over and it’s been 4 months since your second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, you can now get a booster vaccination. This will help strengthen your immune system and help protect you and your loved ones against COVID-19.

Jamberoo Players hit the Heights

Club Champion Ben McEvoy late December played a round at the long and difficult Hilltop course at Mollymook and recorded a 3 under par round 69 off he stick to win the days competition with 42 points. Ben is hitting the ball very nicely and has dropped his handicap down to 1.

Meanwhile at Jamberoo this week Jeff Wasson has found a purple patch of form scoring 45 points on Monday and following it up with 42 on Wednesday to take out the Drummond Golf Stableford. His handicap has taken a beating as well with a three shot bonus lowering from Golf Australia in recognition of his good form. Well played Jeff.

Gary Brickell thought he had 1st place sown up last Saturday with an excellent 43 points. Bernie McGlinchey had other thoughts and beat Gary with his own 43 points and having a better back nine. Well played both of you.

Anthony Smith is obviously finding the centre of his clubs at the moment. In his last couple of weeks he has shot superb rounds of 44 points off his 7 handicap, and followed it up with 36 points off his new 5 handicap. In form for the Pennants.

Drummond Golf Stableford

If you play well enough to win the Drummond Golf Stableford then part of the prize is a $50 Drummond Golf voucher to be spent at Drummond Golf Shellharbour.

Ask at the Office to collect your voucher.

Eagles Nest Emptied

A great shot to 60 cm of the flag by Lex Hodgson last Saturday saw him become the first Eagles Nest winner. He won a dozen balls.

The eagles nest starts again this Saturday with 3 balls at a distance of 15 cm.

Pennants Update

The GolfNSW (Illawarra) Pennant season commences on January 30. Teams have been selected and club playing shirts have been ordered and we are awaiting delivery.

A Pennant shirt Presentation will be held before the season after the shirts arrive.

We have four teams entered this year under the captaincy of Ryan Dorahy (B Pennant – handicaps larger than 5.5), Larry Kent (C Pennant – handicaps larger than 12.5), Col Booth ( White Horse Cup 1 – handicap matchplay – handicaps less than 24) and Phil Gosling ( White Horse Cup 2).

All teams have both experience and enthusiasm on their side and should acquit themselves well and represent the club with pride.

Good luck to all of our teams.

That tree on the 12th
