Congratulations go out to Peter Francis and Tony McRae after their win today in the Fourball Matchplay Final. They defeated gallant opponents Con Kiayias and Matt Tedeschi 5/4. Peter and Tony started on fire and led by 6 holes after 8. Con and Matt to their credit tried hard, but the lead was too great and eventually succumbed on the 14th hole.
Congratulations to both pairs on the achievement of reaching the final and well played to Peter and Tony proving again what a great team they are.
The weekly John Keeling update. You guessed it, John was beaten into third place on a countback on Saturday. John needs to find that extra point from somewhere!
Ken Bradley had a big day out on Saturday winning A grade with 40 points, a drive-and-pitch on the 16th and a nearest the pin. Steve Oppert overcame a 5 putt on the 2nd to record a whooping 24 points on the back nine to win C grade with 40 points. Reports are that Steve confidently spoke, ” plenty of holes to make up for that”, as he skulked off the 2nd green. Peter Brown has continued his good form with a win in D Grade. Peter maintains that his good form is due to him playing conservatively when he is in trouble, and laying up to a good distance from the green, rather than going for broke. Good advice for us all I think.
