Scores Soar in Searing Sunshine

The tale of the tape this week is the tremendous scores achieved by some of our members in the competitions.

Firstly the Ladies played their annual Presidents vs Captains Matchplay event. This year the Presidential team was victorious.

On the Wednesday stableford, A Division  winner was Gus O’Brien 42 Pts (K) maintaining his recent good form. Dave Ransom with 41 Pts was second.
C Grade winner  was Stuart Irvine with 43 Pts, 2nd Kevin O’Rourke with 42 Pts
D Grade winner  was John Eeles with an unbelievably great score of 49 Pts. John is a new member  and is welcomed to the club with  his voucher and the loss of 8 shots off his handicap. Geoff Stephens was second with 42 Pts.

The weekly ‘chicken run’ winners from the previous week were  V Byrnes, D Thomas, M Cassel and B Hodgson.

On the Saturday stableford the Ladies winner was Gisella Putral with 36 points.

For the men the results were:

A Grade Winner Mark Cassel 40 pts
B Grade Winner Geoff Reynolds 41 pts 2nd Ian Lewis 40 pts (c/b) 3rd Lance Fredericks 40 pts (c/b)
C Grade Winner John Keeling 41 pts
D Grade Winner George Louden 48 pts

Congratulations especially go to George and John who have been seen putting in the practice lately.

Scott Hainsworth finally beats his nemesis Tony Panecasio

For weeks now the competition in A Grade has been intense between Scott and Tony. Tony has always seemed to find that little extra on the 18th to record his usual 2 point victory over Scott. Today the tables turned! Scott scored a fine round of 38 points to record a victory over Tony who had 35 points. At last Scott, well done.

Bernie vs Ron

Ron Chilby has bounced back and recorded a victory over his friend and golfing rival Bernie McGlinchey. Ron was sporting a new haircut and clean shaven face which obviously was too much for Bernie to withstand. Apparently Bernie explained to his wife Linda that he got beaten by a new member today!

Good golfing to all our Jamberoo members.

Dave Ransom

PS How do the pictures relate to the story you may ask? Of course they don’t. I just like seeing Jim Henry up a ladder helping the garden committee beautify the course. Think you can help, please contact the golf shop who will be more than happy to accept your offer of help.

  1. How about we earn the “tag” of A grade by lowering our handicaps to 12 or less rather than claim it by default. member no. 164.

  2. I think you are correct and I will not use that tag when A and B are combined for any future articles. It was done for brevities sake and not a true reflection on the skill levels of the players concerned. Less than 4 A graders makes it hard to report the A grade winner when there is no prize available for them. Congratulations on your continued good Wednesday form where you often finish top of the A graders.
