Big Day for Jamberoo

Our Oaks Automotive Pennant teams performed admirably today with all 4 teams successful against strong and determined opposition.

B Pennant vs Links Shell Cove @ Russell Vale.

Jamberoo won 3 – 2.

Playing against the undefeated and confident Links Shell Cove 1 team has bought out the best in the Jamberoo ‘Guns’. We could very easily have claimed all 5 matches with two of our players losing on the last hole.

Round of the day was from Katie Dorahy who took a “shovel and buried her opponent”. Well done Katie.

Katie working hard on her short game.

Brad Douglas lost on the last hole

Ryan Dorahy won 3&1

Lee Hayward won 3&1

Dylan McDonald lost on 18

Katie Dorahy won 6&4

Next week the B Pennant have a divisional bye round.

C Pennant vs Moss Vale @ Gerringong

Jamberoo won 3 – 2.

A critical match for the Jays today saw them respond to the pressure and walk away winners 3 matches to 2.

Captain Larry feels we were a little fortunate with one Moss Vale player withdrawing on the day leaving us with the task of finding two more wins.

Nick Goodger won 2&1 in a strong performance.

Wayne Griffiths back in the winners circle winning 2up.

Mathew Ross close again losing on the last hole.

Larry Kent lost 2/1.

Leon Polestico won on the forfeit. Clearly his opponent knew of the great form Leon is currently in.

This win was important and keeps the ‘Jays’ in the hunt.

Next week the C Pennant team play against table topping The Grange at the Links Shell Cove.

Hit off is 7.25am.

White Horse Cup Magpies vs Wollongong @ Russell Vale

Jamberoo won 4 – 3.

A season determining game. A loss and all aspirations for a finals birth were gone. Helped by a ban on carts which caused the Wollongong number 1 to forfeit, our team found the other 3 wins needed to grab the points. It was very close too with 4 of the 6 matches finishing on the 18th green.

Ken Bradley won on a forfeit at number 1.

Brad Rimmer again claimed the points for the team winning the last hole to claim his match 1 up.

Alan Jones lost the last hole to go down by 2 holes.

Rob Young had a reasonably comfortable win 4&3.

Ken Holt tried hard but was confounded by the tricky Vale greens to lose 5&4.

Gentleman Don Thompson finished strong to claim victory on the 18th.

Peter Young almost cracked that elusive win losing on the last.

Next week the Magpies travel to Shoalhaven Heads for a match against Sussex Inlet commencing at 10.27am.

White Horse Cup Cowpats vs Nowra @ Jamberoo

It is always hard to play against the home club and so it proved today with Jamberoo winning 6 – 1.

With the team joining in the team song before play, led by team baritone Shane Townsend, the Nowra team were immediately at a disadvantage not having a ready response. Everybody played well and in the end all had complete control of their matches except one.

Next week the Cowpats travel to Bowral to play Sussex Inlet 1 commencing at 9 am.

The team appreciates the support of groupies Boyd and Bobby and the help with the after game function by chief chef Anthony Smith and apprentices Dave Ransom and Shane Townsend, and the very important role that our bar persons played, Thanks Geoff, Bob and Loretta.

Anthony, Bobby, Boyd and Chris.

Manager Shane comments :

Cowpats defeated Nowra at Jamberoo 6/1

Kane Rowe (Maverick) was first out running like a gazelle through the Serengeti to take out his opponent 4/2.

Peter Francis (The Pope) as always, doggedly dealt with his opponent 4/3. His opponents comment to me was “he is annoying me”.

Steve Jackson (Whacko) after being 1 down through nine to Nowra’s big hitting Captain decided to give his opponent a stiff upper cut to defeat him 4/2. Great come back Steve.

Col Booth (SL1) was fighting all the way through the front nine to be inspired after a friendly slap after the ninth to defeat his opponent 4/2.

Bryan Nicoll (R2D2) was methodically attempting to get on top of his opponent (what a difference a day makes 🙂 Unfortunately going down 4/3.

Chris Leckey (Count) followed last week’s effort kicking his opponent between the legs on several occasions winning 5/3. Using a green ball? Go figure! No crows!

Anthony Smith (Titus Andronicus). What can one say? Since having new glasses can actually see where he is aiming, disposing of his opponent 7/5.

Thanks again to Bill (Bobby) and Boyd for your support, greatly appreciated.

Also thankyou for Magpie Don for seeing the Cowpats off to shakey starts and also to our recovering secret weapon Pat Paris,

Once again a pleasure Managing the team.

Shane Townsend (Obi)

ps: The force was with us at home today.
