Please Help Take Care of your Course
How can you as a member help to preserve the course?
The answer is obvious – repair your pitch marks on the greens and fill in your divots on the course.
You can also help by being careful near the hole. When you take your ball out do so with your hand after first removing the flag. When you do so don’t place your feet too close to the edge of the hole.
A fourth thing you can do is not pull your buggy or drive a golf cart onto the tees. Use the pathways provided. Further if you drive a cart stay at least 5 metres from the edge of the green.
When you finish your game please place your empty buckets onto the rack beside the first tee or into the new bucket holder.
All simple things that are easy for all of us to observe.
AGM
Don’t forget to come along on Wednesday August 21 at 7 pm in the club rooms. The annual report and balance sheets will be presented to the members at this meeting. The confirmation of the new Board of Directors will also be part of the business on the night.
If you are interested in becoming a Director of the club then you can nominate on the night if you have forgotten to nominate.
August Greens Report
Head greenkeeper Nick Goodger reports …..
- Verti-draining of greens and tees. Both have been treated this week with the tees to be re-treated next week and the greens treated on a fortnightly basis.
- The retaining walls on the ninth tee will be repaired by recycling the wood from the old 8th bridge.
- A new bucket holder has been placed beside the first tee. It has been made from 100% recycled plastic. Also 10 buckets have been attached to the sand boxes near the 5th and 10th tees for use by players.
- The new bridge on the 8th is open with road-base applied to the approach ramps.
- The Callistemon tree at the bottom of the 17th tee has been pruned to open up the left side of the tee.
- Chemicals will be sprayed around the course in coming weeks to control weeds and growth around trees and in the lakes and waterways.
- The area beside the new pathway near the 3rd tee will be completed by returfing bare patches in the next few weeks.
- Stump removal continues and uneven surfaces and holes are being filled.

Will somebody turn off the fan?
It has been a little breezy this week with scores in the mid 30’s often being enough to win your grade. Those of us lucky enough to control the trajectory of the ball seem to have done the best.
The rest of us should heed that sage piece of advice – Swing Easy When Its Breezy.
