Welcome Aboard Mick

With the retirement of Bill Hodgson a new volunteer was sought to take over the ordering of goods for the shop. Mick Bartlett has taken up the challenge and will now be our purchasing officer and stock controller.

Thanks for volunteering to undertake this very important job for the club.

AGM

Just a reminder to attend the AGM of our club on Wednesday August 21 at 7pm in the members’ lounge.

Lady Veterans Open Day

It was a marvelous day, impeccably organised by Lorraine Cram who ensured everybody enjoyed the golf and a lovely meal afterwards. It was a nice touch that everybody won at least a ball. The club sends their appreciation to your remarkable efforts in organising the Lady Veterans golf.

Thanks Lorraine.

Not the New Car!

Not wanting to see his brand new car, only 1 hour out of the showroom, accidentally dented in the carpark last Thursday, your club captain cleverly decided to park it behind Shirley Walsh’s car near the western side of the clubhouse. Surely it would be safe there?

Little did he know that there is a history of miss-hit shots ending up right at this spot!

And so it happened. A golfer over-clubbed on the fourth and sent his ball soaring straight at the new vehicle. Luck was on his side as the ball sailed straight over the car and regrettably struck Shirley Dixon on the full in a rather tender part of her anatomy.

Both Shirley and Dave are recovering well!

The latest results

At last the course is relenting a little and some good scores are being achieved. Gone are the days when 33 wins the comp?

Well played to Toby Bartle on Wednesday with  the best daily score of 40 points. Congratulations also to one of our newest members Darren Mears for his win in A grade on Wednesday, a sign of things to come in the upcoming championships maybe? David White and Bruce Hammond both recorded 41 points last Saturday with David winning B grade on a countback. Bruce had scored a mammoth 25 points on his own on the front nine and with partner Bill Little won the 4BBB with a solid 47 points.

Congrats to Sue and Robyn on Thursday where their 45 points in the Lady Veterans Open Day 4BBB managed to win by 1 point from a host of others.
