News from the Course

It has come to my attention that some members may not be aware that a special Covid payment was made into their account for those who had access denied due to Covid lockdowns imposed by the NSW State Government.

On September 8 the following was published in the Daily Cow.

———————

CoVid-19 Membership Refunds

202 members of Jamberoo Golf Club have had their access to the course denied for a portion of the 11 week long lockdown. Some from the Wollongong LGA, Greater Sydney and parts of Shellharbour LGA have had access for the full 11 weeks denied. Some from Shellharbour who live within 10km of the course could only play for 5 weeks. With the current ‘stay at home’ orders for all regions of the state, some members from non-Kiama LGA’s have missed out for 4 weeks.

The Board of Directors feel that some compensation needs to be given to these members. Consequently for each week missed a $10 refund will be placed in those members accounts. Members will receive a refund of $110, $60, $40, or $30.

This money went into accounts on Tuesday [September 7].

It is to be used as a credit for next year’s fees or for purchases from our golf shop or for cart hire etc.

We thank those members affected by the lockdown for their patience in these trying times and we look forward to greeting you back on the course very shortly.

Senior Members Bonus

While we are talking about refunds lets also note that any member who has reached the 80 year old milestone and been a member for ten years or more have been credited with $200 towards next year’s fees or to use at the course.

——————-

No other club took this step but your Board thought it appropriate for Jamberoo considering our geographic position on the border of Kiama and Shellharbour LGAs and our long held belief in supporting our members.

You can access these funds for purchases from the club or hold onto them and use them to reduce the fees in the next golfing year.

If you hear a fellow member wondering then feel free to explain the situation to them.

VALE Jim Butt

Members are reminded that Jim Butt’s funeral is at 2:00 PM Friday 21/1/22 at Stan Crap Funeral Directors Manning Street, Kiama.

Pennants Shirt Presentation

Appropriate Pennant Attire?

Each year we have a tradition at Jamberoo to present each Pennant player with their club shirt and cap and to welcome all of our new inductees.

This Sunday the 23rd of January we will again have this ceremony commencing at 11.30 am. For Covid safety reasons everybody will need to be masked while inside the club house and it is planned to have a sausage sizzle.

The shirts are due to arrive sometime between the 17th to the 20th so hopefully we will have something to present!

After the short formal proceedings teams will be going out for a hit (or small drink together) so bring your clubs.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
