  1. To be consistent with my ongoig whinge about prizes , why is it that Jamberoo golf club can award so many prizes and balls down to 24 points for 9 ladies in a single comp and only 20 odd balls in a total of 90 men ?

    1. Thank you Bruce for your comment.
As you are probably aware the Ladies run their own competitions and allocate prizes as they see fit. In the competition you mention I believe only 9 played on an extremely hot and sultry day and they drew from their ball pool to award extra balls. The Ladies committee decided to award everybody a ball. The Ladies normally give smaller prizes as well.
In the mens’ competitions every player contributes a set pre-determined amount to the prize/ball pool from their entry fee. Every cent of this pool is then used to allocate prizes and balls. We normally give out a significant number of prizes in grades amounting sometimes to at least $140 and up to $250. This leaves the rest of the pool to be used for the nearest the pins and the ball comp.
On Saturday 14 balls are given out for NTP and D&P which leaves the rest for the ball comp. On Wednesday as there are less special NTP’s there are more balls available in the ball comp. Sometimes there are more players on the given cut-off score than balls to be awarded. Traditionally we do not use countbacks for these balls. Everybody on that score gets a ball or nobody gets one. Any balls thus not allocated are kept in trust and used to bolster up balls for the next comp if such a situation arises again.
      Thanks for your interest.

  2. Hi Bruce.. Matbe they have to think about increasing our comp fees by a Dollar. This would increase our men’s comp prizes by $100 if they had a field of 100 it has been quite a while since our comp fees have increased…Everything in society has increased and I am sure $1 cannot break our wallets..But mate I bet a lot of people would not like my suggestion…ANYHOW GOOD LUCK TO ALL OUR PENNANT PLAYERS FOR THIS YEAR…

  3. Thanks Ron, I am sure the players are excited at the prospect of the new season and determined to represent the club with pride, passion and dignity.
I think you are right about increasing the comp fee by $1 in both regards.
    Thanks for your interest.
