This week a round of the Trevor Bell Memorial Shield was played at the course with our team needing a good result to close the gap on the leading team Port Kembla. Unfortunately the Port players were able to rise to the challenge and add to their lead. With 2 rounds remaining we will need outstanding results from our team if we are to reclaim the trophy.

In the Saturday club competition Peter Wheatley was able to reverse his Wednesday form, where he came last in D Grade, to win D Grade with an outstanding 44 points. Reports are that it could have been better as he tangled with the out of bounds on the 14th and the lake at the 16th. Well played Pete. Daniel Smith in C Grade took up the challenge after losing 2 shots off his handicap last week to win C Grade again with 39 points. The question is, can  he continue to win with an even lower handicap?

Peter Francis and Tony McRae played their semi-final in the match play on Saturday against Shane Townsend and Tim Young. The pundits expected it to be a close match but Pete and Tony played brilliantly to win the match on the 13th hole, 6/5. The highlight was a magnificent eagle 2 by Pete on the 2nd hole. The ball went straight in without touching the sides! Well played to Pete and Tony who await the result of the other semi-final match between Paul Rodgers and Ron Hewson and the team of Matt Tedeschi and Con Kiayias.

On Tuesday the ladies were putting purely with Marie Farrant, Judi O’ Brien and Lorraine Cram slotting the ball regularly. Lorraine won the ‘triple crown’ in C grade, winning the medal, the best gross and the best putting. Well done ladies.

John Hinks was a very excited winner of the Drummond golf voucher on Wednesday with 41 points. John even asked for a photo-copy of his card so that he could frame it for his study at home. Congratulations John, well played.

Finally  John Keeling was very pleased to pick up a winner’s prize in last week’s fourball. John has had a series of second places and was wondering if he could take that final step and win. Unfortunately Pete Wheatley’s great round left John again with second prize on Saturday.

Well played to all members who enjoyed a round at our beautiful course this week.
