Jamberoo Golf Club’s successful 2015 White Horse Cup Pennant team look to defend their title in 2016
Jamberoo Golf Club’s Pennant teams are set to make a big splash in the upcoming Golf Illawarra Pennant competitions. With teams entered in the B Pennant, C Pennant and two in the White Horse Cup the club’s representation has never been stronger. Here’s hoping that last year’s success can be continued in the new season which commences on January 31 for the C Pennant and February 7 for the other teams.
The ‘big wet’ has hit the club this week with the Tuesday Ladies monthly medal cancelled. Numbers in the other mid-week competitions were restricted as well with only the hardiest players braving the weather. Winners of January the 2nd’s mens monthly medal were Pete Munro in A grade with 64 nett, Greg Tarrant in B grade with 59 nett. Phil Gosling won C Grade also with a 59 as did D Grade winner Bob Crooks.
Monday’s veteran comp. was won by George Wells with 39 points in the rain. Tuesday’s Ladies Monthly Medal was postponed due to the rain. Wednesday saw 18 brave souls risk the wet conditions with the winner being Justin Bensley with 40 points with Col Cuthbertson second with 39 points. Thursday’s Lady Veterans event was not played due to the conditions.
Saturday 9th of January saw 120 starters enjoy a Stableford competition with the course in sensational condition after the rain. The winners were Wayne Arnott in A Grade with 42 points; Lance Fredericks won B Grade with 42 points from Brian O’Hare who managed 40 points. Bob Wright won C Grade with 44 points with Larry Osterhaus second with 43 points on a countback. Chris Wright won D Grade with 38 points on a countback. Robyn Gregson with 39 points was the women’s winner on a countback from Gisela Putral.
