Jarryd Buckley wins 2010 Club Championship

2010 Jamberoo Club Champion Jarryd Buckley

IN his first year in the senior ranks Jarryd Buckley has won the 2010 Jamberoo Club Championship.

In what were at times very trying conditions, Jarryd put together four solid rounds of golf to edge out multiple club championship winner Adrian Gehrmann by just one stroke.

Knowing the championship result was on a knife edge on the final hole, Jarryd produced a great six iron chip shot from under the trees on the right hand side of the 18th green for a memorable up and down.

His five foot putt on the notoriously difficult final green gave him the 2010 title and backed up his Junior Club Championship win last year.

With wet weather and at times almost cyclonic winds variously affecting the four rounds of the championship, no-one was setting any course records.

“I played well. It could have been a lot worse if I didn’t save myself with some good clutch putting,” Jarryd said of his final round.

“I made some good saves getting up and down on a few important occasions.”

B Grade Champion was Ian Bradburn and C Grade went to Paul Rodgers.
