Good luck to all members playing in the Mens Club Championship over the next four weeks. Hopefully the weather will hold off and with the course in good condition we are certainly looking forward to close competition in all three grades.

We are planning to have the leading eight in each grade play together in the final round (with early tee times) to create some excitement and being available for this is a condition of entry to qualify to win the championship. The final round stableford for non-qualifiers will not be held as the trial in previous stroke rounds proved to be unpopular with members. Thus we all will play a stroke round on this day.

Defending champions are A Grade: Steve Rippon; B Grade: Ron Chilby; C Grade: Jim Ryan.

Grades for the overall championship are: A grade 12 or less; B Grade 13-19; C Grade 20 or more.

Each individual day’s event will be in grades as per a normal Saturday.

Jamberoo Golf Club would like to thank Drummond Golf at Warrawong for their generous sponsorship of our ‘main event’.

Round 1 and most of round 2 have been played and the winners are roaring to go to decide this year’s semi-finalists.

Round 1 winners were: Paul Hazeltine, Brian O’Hare, Tony Panecasio, Tom Zimmerman, Ron Hewson, Wayne Griffiths and Chris Goodwin.

Round 2 saw the seeded players enter the competition and the winners were: Paul Hazeltine over Peter Young, Tom Zimmerman over Paul Rodgers, Ron Hewson over Boyd Sylvester, Tom Persson over Ray Orr, Adrian Bell over Simon Tedeschi, and Wayne Griffiths with bad weather holding up the other two matches.

Round 3 has started with Adrian Bell and Tom Persson playing the battle of the B Pennant captains. Adrian overcame Tom to progress to the semi-finals.

Semi-finalists have been decided in this year’s championship!

Round 1 saw the following winning teams: Paul Hazeltine and Tom Persson, Simon and Matt Tedeschi, Pat Paris and Chris Goodwin, and Chris Leckey and Anthony Smith.

Round 2 saw all pairs playing with Paul and Tom defeating the Tedeschi pair, Pat and Chris defeating Chris and Anthony in a close game 2 up, Richard Bremner and Pete Saunders beating Geoff Reynolds and Ian Unsworth 2/1 and Ron Hewson and Paul Rodgers defeating Pete Francis and Andrew Craddock at the 21st hole.

In the semi-finals Paul and Tom take on Pat and Chris in a match promising to be very close.

The other semi-final is between Richard and Pete against Ron and Paul in another game that should be very keenly contested.

Good luck to all pairs and best wishes go out to club stalwart, Athol Casey, for a swift recovery from his recent serious condition.
