Match report:

Jamberoo B pennant team played at Shoalhaven Heads on a hot wind swept Sunday morning. The matches were played in groups of four with Moss vale playing against Wollongong and Jamberoo up against Port Kembla.

It was another thrilling finish with the team gathering around the 18th green to watch Paul Hazeltine’s final putt. Paul’s match was all-square after 18 and the team finished with a draw against Port Kembla.

Tom Persson played his first match of the season and came away with a massive 6/5 win. Tom’s putting was reminiscent of Ben Crenshaw at his best and his opponent was convinced that Tom’s ball had eyes as Tom didn’t miss anything under 15 feet all day.

The tricky new par-3 6th green was in play and anything slightly long on this hole was quickly dispatched out of bounds. Anyone that had received the “mail” on this hole new to err on the short side and allow their opponent to take on the “sucker” back pin position had a big advantage.

Ray Orr had big shoes to fill as he took on the role of team manager in the absence of Lance Fredericks. Ray found himself in the middle of a difficult ruling on the 4th hole and was ice cool under pressure, ringing through to the pro shop for a local ruling.

The team looks forward to the long hitting Jaryd “Bubba” Buckley playing his first match of the season at Port Kembla next week.

  1. Looking forward to my pre-pennants practice match with the ‘mighty Bubba’ at Port Kembla on Wednesday…..I’m sure he’ll do great on Sunday.
Let’s not forget Adrian Bell’s great win last week at No.1 (5/4 win against a quality opponent – well done)
