Trevor Bell Memorial Shield

The fourth round of the Trevor Bell Memorial Shield competition was held at Jamberoo on Thursday 22nd August. In each round the six best stableford scores from each team of eight are accumulated over the seven rounds of the competition.

On Thursday six of the seven teams scores were in a span of 15 points. Port Kembla led with 186 points making up some ground on Jamberoo who were equal with Kiama with 179 points.

In the progress scores, Jamberoo made up the 4 point deficit to Links Shell Cove and now share the lead. Port Kembla is in third place 17 points behind. The competition moves on to Russell Vale on 16th September. Lets hope our team displays better away form than at home.

In the daily competition Ken Holt won a three way countback to win first prize with 35 points and Peter Hackett picked up a ball. The days results have been posted on our website.

Veterans Spring Medal

The first Monday in September (2/9/24) will see the playing of the Veterans Spring Medal. This will be a stroke round from the White Tees.

On the last Monday in September (30/9/24) the Winter and Spring Medals will be presented at the Vets BBQ. On that day there will be a shotgun start at 7.30 am with the BBQ following.

Club Rules Update.

It is expected that all members take time on a regular basis to read the Local Rules which can be found on the club noticeboard or on the MiScore App.

One such rule that many are not familiar with is the new drop zone on the 9th hole. It is located north of the green. Also the garden area behind the second hole may need some reminders.

Here are some excerpts:

Out of Bounds: Those areas beyond the inside points, at ground level, of any course boundary fences or any line of white stakes with black tops. A ball is out of bounds when all of it lies out of bounds. While playing the 9th hole the carpark and first tee area is out of bounds.

Ground Under Repair
3.1 All areas circled by white broken/unbroken lines or stakes or blocks inserted in the grass.
3.2 The garden area behind the 2nd green, marked by white stakes, is a no-play zone and COMPULSORY GUR. Relief MUST be taken by dropping within the drop zone to the north of the green.
3.3 All formed garden beds within the course.
3.4 If taking relief from the GUR area adjacent to the Works Shed on the eastern side of the 18th green, the ball must be dropped in the marked Drop Zone.
3.5 If taking relief from the marked GUR or garden behind the 9th green the ball must be played from the drop zone north of the green.
3.6 Tyre marks formed by tractors.

PS: The local rules sheet is still attached to the noticeboard having survived the last windstorm. Apparently the sign on the noticeboard indicating the new drop zone to members was blown away. It will be replaced Monday.
