News from the Course

Dear Jamberoo Golf Club Members, we are excited to announce a special opportunity for our members!

Following the recent visit from Gareth Ward, Independent MP for Kiama, Jamberoo Members have been invited to tour Parliament House in Sydney.

This exclusive tour, hosted by Mr Ward himself will take place on Wednesday September 18th and includes lunch in addition to a Parliamentary sitting commencing at 11am and is limited to a maximum of twenty-five people.

We are currently finalising numbers with Mr. Ward’s office and Jamberoo’s Official Parliamentary contact is no other than Phil Thompson.

Phil will be coordinating the visit so please ring Phil on 0458 561 001 if you are interested in participating.

The following information is needed for security reasons to access Parliament House and will be required to be recorded by Phil,

Name, Address and Phone Number, no later than Wednesday 31st July.

It is suggested that Jamberoo members travel by train meeting together at Kiama station, travelling directly to Martin Place, as this gives the easiest access to the ‘power palace’.

This is a fantastic chance to gain insight into the workings of government and enjoy a unique experience with fellow club members as well as appraising and comparing the quality tucker of Phil’s Jamberoo BBQ to the sustained diet of politicians.

Practice on the Course.

Members are reminded that if you are playing a practice round then you are limited to hitting two balls while playing. Make sure you repair your divots on the fairways and rough and pitch marks on the greens. Sadly, I was on the 18th green yesterday afternoon and noticed many unrepaired pitch marks on the front of the green (which I repaired).

Please help by finding your own pitch mark and repairing it. Repair another too.

ALSO,

On the Practice Range,

1. Balls should be hit in a northerly direction only from the teeing area. Use your common sense if there is more than one practising.

2. During competition times please be considerate of competition players and limit yourself to hitting to that section of the practice area south of Hyam’s Creek. Make use of the nets if necessary. There is a danger of people being struck from either the 18th or 10th holes on the northern side in competition times.

Firewood.

Clearly a lot of firewood has been collected from the course during the recent storms. Members who wish to take some should contact the greenkeeper to arrange the collection of a trailer load from the Greens Compound. Free to members.

🏆🏆Mens Club Championships 🏆🏆.

This Saturday sees the commencement of the Mens Club Championships.

For the first weekend (Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th) 30cm preferred lies throughout the general areas of the course will be available.

ALSO

The daily competitions are stroke and stableford this Saturday. Nominate to the starter before you hit-off.

The first round doubles as the August Monthly Medal. Don’t forget to count, and record on your card, the number of putts taken per hole if you are playing the stroke round. The player with the least putts qualifies for the Golden Putter Playoff in November.

Please play using the ‘ready golf’ suggestions and remember that your place in the field is immediately behind the group ahead and not in front of the group behind. If you lose contact with the group ahead make efforts to catch up.

To assist the pace of play, in the stroke round there is a maximum score of 9 per hole. Pick up after your 8th stroke and record a 9. {this info supersedes that of earlier articles}

For stableford, do not putt out once you can’t score any points. Pick up and score a wipe.

Round 3, on Saturday 10th, sees the playing of the Stableford Salver for those who have missed a round, or who don’t wish to continue in the championships.
