Veterans News September 2023

The Trevor Bell Memorial Shield competition for 2023 continues on. After a washout at The Vale in August when the play was abandoned due to heavy rain and waterlogged greens the competition continued at Wollongong on Monday.

The Jamberoo team did not have a good day losing our leading position to Port Kembla and are now trailing Port Kembla by 20 points but holding second position in the progressive points score. Quite a trying start to the day with a number of our team being held up by traffic chaos on the freeway and consequent late arrivals. However everyone got a start with some juggling of tee times. Thanks to all team members for their efforts.

The replacement round for The Vale will be played on 9 October followed by the final round at The Grange on 30 October.

Please note that Veterans memberships are due by 30 September and can be paid at any time at the Golf Shop. 2023-24 cost is $10.

Latest Local Rule Update

Please note that we will be allowing 30 cm preferred lies on all fairways. This measure has been taken due to the lack of growth in fairway grass over winter and to the number of divot holes left unfilled on the course.

This local rule will apply until further notice.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

While we have white and blue courses, women are to play off the RED TEE MARKERS which are placed on the tees near the respective white and blue permanent markers. The women’s white and blue courses are rated and handicapped separately to the men’s white and blue courses. Please do not listen to people who tell you to play off the white markers in medley comps.

Good luck to all participants in the Foursomes Championships next Tuesday.

Good golfin’
