Round 2 of the Championships

Players today were greeted with an extremely well presented dry course which was amazing after the previous night’s downpour. With less run on the fairways the scores were slightly higher but many players took the chance to move within striking range of the leaders in each grade.

The winners of the daily competition were A: Alan Jones nett 65 B: Andrew Ransom nett 66 C: Stephen Young net 66.

The Championship after round 2

Ben McEvoy leads A grade by 10 on 143 after his 74 today. David Garcia has moved to second on 153, Noel Laman third on 155 and then Brad Rimmer 4th on 158, Steve Rippon is 5th on 161 and Lee Hayward is 6th on 162

Ron Chilby leads B grade on 171, followed by Paul Rodgers on 174, Colin Van Woerkom on 176, with Andrew Ransom and Peter Francis next on 177.

Stephen Young is the new leader in C grade on 178, closely followed by Phil Adams on 180 with Col Booth on 187 and then Bill Reid on 190.

In the Nett, A grade is lead by Ben McEvoy on 135 followed by David Garcia on 137, Brad Rimmer on 138, Alan Jones on 139 and Lee Hayward on 140.

B grade Nett is lead by Colin Van Woerkom and Paul Rodgers on 134, Ron Chilby and PeterFrancis on 137 with Blake Raymond next on 138.

C Grade Nett is lead by Stephen Young on 130, then Phil Adams on 134, Mitchell Smee on 139 with Col Booth on 141 and Robert MacLean on 142.

In each grade several other players are close to the lead in both Gross and Nett. Players are reminded that if you win the Club Championship (gross) in your grade you can’t also win the nett. This leaves many opportunities.

Next Saturday sees the continuation of the Championships with Round 3 being contested and also the playing of the Jamberoo Stableford Salver for all those who feel that they are out of contention in the championships or for those who have missed a round and for our Saturday women players.

Entry fee is $20.
