Further News from the Course

Be careful with the amount of run on the fairways!

OAKS AUTOMOTIVE owner, Steve Oppert, hit a magnificent drive last Saturday on the 18th straight down the middle. He was a little shocked and dismayed when he saw his ball pass the end of the fairway and run into the grassed hazard section just before Hyams Creek.

This is where it finished hanging precariously over the edge. Impossible to hit Steve was forced to take a penalty drop.

Mens Championships

The Saturday/Sunday format of this year’s championships has been well advertised since the 2023 programme was developed and published in December last year. It follows the same format that was successfully initiated in 2022.

Four rounds of stroke play is not everybody’s cup of tea and the Sunday games will attract those keen to test the metal of their game and play under the pressure of a championship. For those who can only play Saturdays or those out of the hunt for a championship then the third round will determine the winner of the ‘Jamberoo Plate’. This will take place using a stableford format. You should inform the starter as you pay your $20 comp fees.

One other condition that should be made clear is that there is no maximum score of 9 on any hole for the championships. Play it out until the ball is holed.

Monday Vets Fourball

A highly enjoyable day of golf utilising a shotgun start. After the game players got together over a sausage sandwich and a beer and many tall tales were told of unbelievable shots that miraculously were pulled off in a remarkable or extremely lucky manner. 66 of our Vets Members played and seemed to enjoy their golf and after golf activities with their Vets mates.

Congratulations to our winners on the day:

1st:  George Goor & William Perry  47 pts   2nd:    Col Booth & Geoff Reid  46 pts   3rd:  Phil Gosling & Craig Foster  45 pts

NTP 3rd:   John Clune (Links SC)  650 cm   7th:  Ken Holt  69 cm   9th:    Gavin Holt (Temora GC)  71 cm

D&P 8th:  George Goor  5 cm

Women’s D&P 11th:    No Winner

Supershot 13th:    Al Thrower  357 cm

Balls to:  44 pts

Note: Some members today have informed me that results somehow appeared in Golflink for handicapping purposes. This was never an intended happening and it appears that our Competition Golf processing software has a glitch with regards to 2 ball events and was automatically sent to Golflink without our knowledge. An ‘AI’ thing perhaps?

We have checked every players handicap and only a few have had any adjustment at all and none that actually affected their daily handicap. Currently we are requesting Golflink to delete this round from all players records. It has yet to be determined if that is possible.
