Pennant teams have winning Sunday

JAMBEROO’S Pennant teams had a great weekend with strong wins to the C’s and White Horse Cup teams.

The C’s beat Moss Vale at 6 to 1 and the WH Cup team won a close encounter against the Grange at Port Kembla.

C Pennant captain Dave Ransom reports on his team’s relentless march toward another final:

“The news is good again with the team winning 6 matches to 1 against Moss Vale in today’s match at the tricky Vincentia course.

Winners were:  Steve (the tool man or T1) Oppert 6/5 in very convincing style at number 1; Peter (BP) Francis 2/1 with a come-from-behind victory; Warwick (pup) Miller 2 up in a close tussle; Tom (Nakajima) Zimmerman 6/5 in a very impressive display of power golf; Tony (lefty) McRae 4/3 showing that you don’t want him to be in front early as he always kills the back nine; and Paul (timbers) Hemmings who made a fantastic comeback from 4 down to win 2 up.

Unfortunately, Chris (the hat) Leckey lost his first match in 2 seasons, clearly undecided at the start with which head apparel he would wear. The lucky one let him down today.

Next week we play Gerringong at Gerringong so we will need to be at the top of our game.”

Campbell into the frey

At Port Kembla, White Horse Cup captain Daryl Campbell threw himself into the fray for the first time this year – and promptly lost 2 & 1.

Fortunately, other team members came through with Tony Rodriguez winning 4&3, Errol Stubbs winning 5&4 and Steve Jackson 3 & 2.

Steve Robertson and Brad Jackson squared their matches, contributing a point between them.

Neil Harper made the mistake of scoring 47 points in the Jamberoo Saturday comp and obviously suddenly bereft of a couple of handicap points lost 4&2.
