News from the Course – 3rd August

Change of Venue AGM.

The Board of Directors have been concerned with possible transmission of Covid 19 during its current outbreak, and the limited space available in the Golf Club Lounge.

Consequently the upper room at Club Jamberoo has been booked for our AGM on 23rd of August at 7.30 pm.

Auditor David Murphy will be in attendance and all attending members are requested to wear a face mask. [extra masks will be available].

Please make a note in your diary.

Local Rules

  • Play from the blue tees.
  • Maximum score on a hole is a 9.
  • 30cm preferred lies on fairways only. A free drop is available from any ‘brown’ or bare area on fairways only.
  • Mud encrusted balls may be lifted cleaned and exactly replaced in the general sections of the course.
  • On the 12th, if your tee shot ends in the sandy patch in the middle of the fairway you can take a free drop using ‘unusual course condition’ provisions.
  • Balls coming to rest in wheel marks in the general area of the course may be lifted, cleaned and dropped without penalty.
  • The collapsed bank in front of the 16th green up to the safety fence is part of the penalty area.  If your ball enters that area, then it is in the penalty area and a compulsory penalty stroke must be taken following proper yellow penalty area drop provisions.

For safety reasons, you are not permitted to enter this cordoned off section at all even if your ball is visible. If you do so, then you are automatically disqualified. Please stop any person you see about to break this local rule.

  • Nearest the pins on the 7th and 9th holes and a drive and pitch for Women on the 11th.
  • The Oaks Automotive ‘eagles nest’ played on the third (Saturday only).
  • The Super Shot will be contested on the 13th hole.

Best of luck to all competitors.

Course Routing

We are hopeful that the full course will be available for play on the weekend for rounds 1 and 2.

There is a chance that this may not be possible.

If we must we will play the same as the routing used this week, holes 2* and 3* will replace the 5th and 9th holes respectively. As the pars are the same then historical integrity of scores will be maintained. Being stroke rounds there will be no worries about the allocation of stableford points.

Record your score on 2* next to 5 on the scorecard and your score for 3* on the scorecard next to 9.

If it is a stableford round use the stroke rating for the replaced holes, ie. use the stroke rating for 5 on 2* and the stroke rating for 9 on 3*. By doing this all strokes from handicaps are properly allocated and don’t require any score manipulation by the match committee after the round. If you are off 14, for instance, then you will receive all of your 14 strokes, and not less as you would if you used the alternative method that some applied today.

Social Club Booking Sunday and tee times

Unfortunately a social club (20 players) was booked on the first Sunday [7th August] of the championships in January before flood driven changes were forced upon us.

I have managed to get some more tee times from 8.20 am that can be utilised and might be helpful.

Please feel free to move your tee time forward to these spaces if you wish.
