Congratulations to Tim Young and Ron Hewson for representing our club with pride and determination in the Illawarra Champion of Champion event held on the 28th Of April at Shoalhaven Heads.
The course was in great condition with its setup in championship mode with the pins tucked in difficult to get at positions. Tim managed an equal second place, only to lose on a count back, with a 90 gross in the B grade section following closely behind the winning total of 86. Ron fired an even 100 in the C grade section to finish top half, where the winning score was interestingly 85 (lower than the B grade!). Our A grade champion, Adrian Gehrmann, was a late withdrawal due to a family commitment.
Both Ron and Tim (and most of the field) found the greens very ‘competitive’ but never gave up and tried their best for Jamberoo, not only in enthusiasm but also in the spirit in which they represented the club.
To quote Ron, “I know The Heads will not get the better of me, I will be back down there at some stage. But what a great course, and the hospitality was great and I couldn’t have asked for a better group to have played with.”
I am sure that both Ron and Tim are better for the experience and on behalf of the members I would like to thank them publicly for their time and commitment to the club.
