WHC Magpies have a win.

The Shoalhaven Heads course was in remarkable condition with the only noticeable change due to the recent torrential rain being that the greens were on the heavy side rather than their normal fiery selves.

In the White Horse Cup Pennant this year there are 4 divisions with the winner of each division progressing to the semi-finals. We have two teams entered, one in division 2 and one in division 4. The competition is very even in division 2 (and all divisions it must be said) with each club well capable of beating any other club on the day.

Today our team played the strong Sussex Inlet 2 team and it was a must win game for us. In the end our team captain, Phil Gosling, sunk the winning putt on the last hole to win his match and the overall game for Jamberoo.

Jamberoo 4 defeated Sussex Inlet 3.

Don Thompson, out first, not feeling well but playing for the sake of the team, lost his match 5/4.

Courageous Captain Phil was playing a tenacious Sussex Inlet veteran and only overcame his opponent on the last green in a very close match.

Jeff Draper, playing his initial game of the season, was a real star and controlled his game like a veteran player to win comfortably 5/3.

Dave Ransom, playing another wily veteran found some form on the back nine and won 3/2.

Robert Young was always in control and won handily 5/4.

Ross Graham, fresh from an adventure in the Canadian Rockies and severely jet-lagged, lost 4/3.

Ken Bradley found an opponent in top form and lost 5/3. His opponent being under par at the time.

While on the course we found a lost Cowpat, clearly disorientated by the poor weather at Bowral, wandering around the Links. Appreciate the support Col!

And we found ex club champion Steve Rippon there at the start to support our team as well.

With two rounds remaining we play the two teams above us on the table and with two wins will qualify for the semi-finals. The pressure mounts.

Phil Gosling with Kane Rowe from the Cowpats at last years quarter finals.
