JAMBEROO member Jarrod Buckley has tasted early success in 2010 winning the Boys 17 & Over Nett Championship at the Harvey Norman Junior Week of Golf in Sydney.
Playing off a six handicap, Jarrod carded a Nett 343 over five days play at five Sydney courses, including Pymble, Oatlands, Avondale, Ryde Parramatta and Pennant Hills Golf Clubs.
He beat his nearest rival, another Illawarra local in Shellharbour’s Thomas Holz, by five strokes in the event, conducted from January 4 – 8.
Jarrod won the Jamberoo Junior Club Championship last year, his last as a junior, and will be vying for the major senior titles in 2010.
In other junior news, Jamberoo Golf Club played host to some of the top young golfers from NSW (and elsewhere) on Thursday January 14 for the fourth round of the five day Prime 90 Junior Golf Tournament.
Jamberoo’s’ other young whizz, Jordan Widdicombe, finished third in the overall Under 16 division, beaten by Michael Taylor from NSWGC and Ugo Ottogalli from New Caledonia.
Thomas Holz won the Under 18 title.
