Volunteers Helping our Club

Practice nets Repaired

The club is indebted to Paul O’Leary for his sterling work in repairing the practice nets. Paul has moved the nets back and arranged the nets so that the ‘big holes’ don’t come into effect. Paul supplied much of the materials for the project and had to suffer gale force winds during his construction work. He didn’t let this affect him and the nets are in play.

Another great job by a volunteer who saw an issue and took steps to help his club.

Terrific work Paul and on behalf of the members thanks for your help.

New Bin installed

Thanks also to John Anthony for building and installing a new bin at the front of the club house. John designed, constructed and installed the bin at no cost to the club and it is a wonderful piece of creation. The right side is designed to take bottles and cans and the left general rubbish.

This replaces the unsightly garbage bins that gave a poor impression to visitors to our club.

Great job John and thanks on behalf of the members.

Lance and John – bridge builders extraordinaire

You may have noticed that the bridge across the little brook on the fifth hole and the bridge across Hyam’s Creek on the 6th have been restored to their former glory. This is due to the dynamic efforts of that dedicated team of Lance Fredericks and John Ellsmore.

These are just a few examples of members of Jamberoo getting involved for the betterment of their club.

Thanks to you all!

New Tee Markers on the Course

For years members have been wondering why we only used one set of tees. This anomaly has been addressed at last.

If the competition is from the Blue Course use the blue tee markers. If the competition is from the White Course use the white tee markers. The red tees on the 16th and 17th holes are to be used by the Ladies in their competitions.

All Social play will be played from the white tees.

New Bridges across Hyam’s Creek

The truck trailer bodies you see parked on the Practice Fairway are going to be used to replace two of the dilapidated bridges across Hyam’s Creek on the 4th and 8th holes. The design will be similar to what you see on the first. If you wish to assist us and are available be watchful for a call for volunteers when the time comes to erect the bridges.

Safety Issue in Greens Compound

As a responsible employer Jamberoo Golf Club takes very seriously the safety and welfare of its employees. One such issue has been the servicing of club machinery and vehicles. To this end the roof of the Work’s Shed will be raised to allow for a hoist to be safely installed and operated. This work will commence shortly and will be completed by a professional team of tradesmen.

Ball Credits and Trophy Accounts

Did you know that you can use your ball credits for purchases in the golf shop apart from using them to get golf balls? The nominal shop value is $2.50 and they can be used to buy golf equipment, golf apparel, food and beverages and golf cart hire, 5 balls being equivalent to a half share of a motorised cart. Ball credits are kept for a period of 3 months after which time they are surrendered to the club.

Trophy vouchers can be used for a whole host of things on top of the ones listed above. You can use them in our shop, at many of our corporate business sponsors for goods and for paying a portion of your annual membership fees. The Slice Golf Management System we have allows for a period of 3 months for these vouchers to be used. If you don’t want to use your voucher within this time-frame then contact the office and they will transfer your balance into your membership account.

The new Design for the Club Sculpture

It’s not quite a ‘Cow’ but Col Booth has been scouting in Ireland for something to place near the first tee. I’m not sure if he has actually “borrowed’ the statue as his message was a little scrambled due to the time lag between the two countries. Pretty clever of Col to go to the Irish summer to acclimatize him for the Jamberoo winter it seems.

This Week’ Results

It had to happen I suppose. After 5 months of perfect golfing weather Winter has struck and affected two of our competitions this week. Despite the high winds and heavy rain the course has stood up well and is very much playable. Enjoy your golf this week.

I know it was cool on Thursday morning and we all like to keep our tootsies nice and warm but playing an entire round in Ugg boots, really? On Thursday morning during the Lady Veterans stableford comp it actually occurred. I have been reliably informed one of our ladies apparently completely forgot to bring her golf shoes and was forced to play her round in her Ugg boots.

I’m not sure how she played but at least her toes were nice and warm!

Welcome back from injury to Phil Green with a fantastic 61 nett in the monthly medal last Saturday and it was also good to see Athol Casey win division 2 in the Monday Veterans comp. Nice play also Kay Ison on Thursday to clearly win the Lady Veterans day.
