Cowpats Fall at Last Hurdle

It was a brave challenge and the Cowpats came close but the season ends with a close loss in the final. Congratulations go to Kiama who won the final today at Port Kembla Golf Club 4 – 2.

The key match turned out to be Shane Townsend’s match against the wily Kiama veteran Mark Jones and was decided on the 18th green where Shane’s curling 2 metre putt to square the match cruelly lipped out. The scenario became that we required both our last two matches to record wins. When news came that Matt Tedeschi succumbed on the 16th green Kiama had reclaimed the White Horse Cup.

Earlier Peter Francis completed an unbeaten season winning 5/4, Shane lost on 18, Chris Goodwin and Col Booth lost their matches , Matt lost on 16 and Arthur Bosanquet also completed an unbeaten season winning 3/1.

All plaudits go to Kiama who had an excellent season and were well led by their Captain Harrison Jones.

It has been a fantastic season and a great pleasure to be associated with the cowpats and we look forward to renewing the challenge next year. ‘May the force be with you!’
