Veterans Christmas Hams Day
This Monday the Veterans will be playing for a ham. It will be a shotgun start and everybody will be a winner!
Come along and join the fun. A BBQ will be held at the end with the winners presented with their prizes.

Course Survey
You may have noticed the survey marks around the course in recent days. The reason is that we are having a survey completed to find the levels on the course as part of our water management strategy in the new 5 year Course Development Plan. It is not us planning to sell off the course for real estate.
If we can find the correct levels we will be able to catch run-off water and put it to our own use into permanently filling our dams and know what further infrastructure will be needed. Apparently the surveyor will be using drone technology to complete his work.
Apart from water management the Course Development Plan sets up planning goals and targets that will benefit the club over the next 5 years. Already you will have seen some of the work started with the renewing of some pathways on the course. Replanting of trees, realignment and refurbishment of greens and tees, along with club house resources are among other things that are in the Plan.
The Plan will be published on the club website in the near future for member comment.
A Christmas Tale?
When four of Santa’s elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.
Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.
When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.
Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.
Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum.
When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.
Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.
The angel said very cheerfully, ‘Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn’t this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?’
And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.
Not a lot of people know this.
Where do I drop?
I just miss hit my tee shot on the 7th and it crossed the water hazard at the front of the green bounced on the side of the bank to the left of the green and went into the water. The hazard is marked with yellow stakes.
The question is, ‘Where do I take the drop’?
A At the nearest point on the bank not nearer the hole ,
B On the opposite side of the hazard, any distance, keeping the point where it crossed the hazard after its bounce and the spot where you are taking the drop in line with the flag,
C Either of these options

Super Shot That
Talking about the seventh, last Wednesday the Super shot prize had jackpoted and was worth double its usual amount.
I heard many a story about how close some shots had come and how unlucky they were not to claim the prize. Perhaps the saddest was by a popular member playing in the group just in front of me. He hit a wonderfully controlled wedge landing just past the hole and spinning back to within 20 cm of the cup. His partners were very excited jumping for joy at their partners great shot obviously thinking he might shout them a drink at last.
To their amazement at the green, said player just tapped in his putt for a birdie and walked towards the next tee.
“Why didn’t you measure it?”
“I was running late at the start and didn’t put my money in”, came the sad reply.
In the end Bill Little hit his shot to 57 cm to win the cash. He is available for loans!
Ladies Christmas Fun Day
Rumours abound that a reindeer race was held on the first tee last Tuesday. This was just the start of the proceedings as 42 ladies enjoyed a 15 hole Ambrose competition followed by a special Xmas luncheon after the game.
Another great day for the ladies.

Latest Results
Summer hit during the week with the temperature rising into the high thirties on Wednesday and Thursday. Make sure you take plenty of fluids during your round and don’t forget the sunscreen and a wide brimmed hat.
Arthur it seems has mastered the Australian Countback system with another countback win on Wednesday. Norm Bampton thought he had the A grade prize with his 41 points only to be outdone by Arthur’s better back nine score. Phil Hellmund also continued his good late year form with 39 points on Wednesday also winning on a countback over visitor Michael Phillips. Harry Osman got the main prize with 40 points.
Kevin O’Rourke made a frantic call to the club after his round on Wednesday after he scored 42 points. Apparently his playing partner had rung him and said he couldn’t remember Kev signing his card. This would have meant a DQ for Kevin. A quick check found that Kev had actually signed and was confirmed as the C grade winner. That’s what friends are for!
Ray Pearson also had a good round winning D grade with 39 points.
On Saturday high scoring was the order of the day with many players shooting below their handicap with perfect warm conditions to play golf. Best of all was the ‘saint’, Col Booth, who fired an amazing 46 individual points clearly overcoming his back injury. Steve Oppert was next best in B grade with 43 points. Steve managed eight 3 pointers on the front nine to turn in 24 points.
Laurie Fogarty was easily the best in C Grade with a fine 41 points. Second place was close with Ray Sheehan winning the countback with 38 points. Tim Young putted the lights out with his 41 points in A grade closely followed by the consistent Tony Rodriguez who scored another round of 40 points. Norbert Beringer was our D Grade winner with 37 points. The Ladies competition was very close with 3 players scoring 36 points and one with 35 points. Shirley Walsh won the countback.
