Course Open for Play

Friday 28 October, 1pm

The good news is that the course has been re-opened for play ( from Saturday) with carts available for member use.

The mode of play is “optional tee up through the green” but I have been informed that the currently blowing wind is drying out the course remarkably.

Regretably the Foursomes on Saturday and the Mens Open on Sunday remain postponed to a date to determined.

On Saturday a medley stableford will be played.

While playing check out the apparently permanent new ‘water feature’ on the 12th.

IT’S ALL HAPPENING.

Tuesday was a very busy day. As I enjoyed a rare great game I also shot the following photos. Lots of action.

Lance and Klaus getting ready to move bridge in position for the 7th crossing.
One side ready.
John Elsemore —final touches. First tee area looks great.
Roof raised ready for new hoist—long overdue.
Cody digging hole for new bucket holder.
Geoff Wilson —pulling old bridge apart.

Charity Golf Days at Jamberoo in 2018

Jamberoo Golf Club has a proud history of supporting worthy charitable causes with golf days held on our course.

This year there are 4 charities that we are supporting : Juvenile Diabetes Research; Ovarian Cancer Research; The Johnny Warren Foundation and the Community Cancer Link Foundation.

White Duck Charity Golf Day – for Juvenile Diabetes Research

The date for the White Duck Day has had to be changed to Friday 16th March 2018, instead of the 9th of March. This has been necessary to avoid a clash with another charity golf day on a nearby course which was affecting our ability to attract sponsors and visiting players.

Please make a note of this when you get your new golf diary that is presently being printed ready for distribution to members.

The organisers would like to thank Srixon Golf and Drummond Golf at Shellharbour for their kind donations for this event.

Ovarian Cancer Charity Day

The Ladies Ovarian Cancer Charity Day will be held on Tuesday 27th of March. It is a 3 person ‘Hartball’ event for Ladies only.

The Johnny Warren Foundation Day

This event supports the Johnny Warren Foundation and is organised by the Foundation itself. It is a 4 person Ambrose with dinner and drinks after golf at the Jamberoo Pub. It is due to be played on Thursday the 17th of May.

The Community Cancer Link Charity Day

The Community Cancer Link Charity Day will be held on Tuesday 16th of October. It is a 2 person Ambrose competition for both lady and gentleman golfers organised by the Ladies Committee.

Please consider supporting these worthwhile days.

2018 Golf Programme

While you are waiting for your hard copy of the 2018 golf programme you can access it on the club web page in either of two places. If you look in the ‘Golf’ tab then you will find it under ‘Programme of Events’. Latest Golf Results

Another great week in golf this week on the course. This was especially the case on Saturday where Friday night’s storm didn’t seem to effect the course at all with the greens running very nicely and no water laying about the course.

Arthur Bosanquet maintained his great form with another win on Wednesday, while Greg Seymour continues to score well each game to always come second in A grade it seems! It took George Vlatko to get up and down from the hazard on Saturday to just pip Greg by one. Margaret Cook is again in the winner’s circle with wins on Tuesday and Saturday in the Ladies events, while Harry Osman had a very good day on Wednesday winning the B grade on a count back with 39 points.

It was close in B grade on Saturday where five players finished on 38 points. Only three prizes were awarded so the unlucky two, John Hol and Colin Owers, had to settle for a ball each. Ian Martens had the day’s top Stableford score with 41 points to win C Grade comfortably while early starter Jeff O’Brien’s 32 points held up all day to take out D grade.

Finally I believe Arthur Bosanquet and Liz Armstrong had a bet on Saturday on whom would pay for their meal next Friday. Lowest Stableford score shouts. Time to get the wallet out Arthur, Liz’s 34 beat your 33!

Hope to see you all again on the course next week.
