Open Winners and Eagles.

Congratulations to the following Jamberoo members who have represented the club with distinction in open events in the Illawarra Golf District.

 4th of August

Pete Munro and Bruce Byers had excellent rounds at the Shoalhaven Heads Open, played in extremely difficult windy conditions. Pete was the overall net runner up with a net 72 and Bruce was the B grade gross runner up with 87, unluckily losing on a countback. Well played!

Another eagle has been recorded by Steve Rippon, this time in the Wednesday comp (21/8) on the 12th hole. Steve managed to hit his second shot using his trusty 5 wood to inches from the hole for a kick in eagle. President Lance was overheard telling Steve, in jest, that he is having so many eagles he is sending the club broke. Captain Dave commented that if he has anymore eagles he will have to give the club 6 balls rather than the usual way round! Great shot Steve.

On Thursday 25th of July It was reported to me that Darryl Campbell managed second place with his partner in a veterans4BBB at Shoalhaven Heads with 47 points, losing on a countback to two local members. People are watching Darryl!

Amazing Talent– Steve Rippon

Rippon does it again!

Steve Rippon has achieved another eagle on the 12th hole during Saturday 13th of July’s fourball comp.

It came in a three-hole stretch of birdie, birdie, and eagle from the 10th hole. Witnesses point out that he hit a seven iron straight into the hole for the eagle after being in trouble off the tee.

Well played Steve, another 6 balls to the kitty.

Unfortunately for Steve, and his partner Mick Burton, this effort was not enough to get a prize where they finished sixth, well behind winners Wayne Griffiths and Ray Sheehan who amassed an amazing 51 points.

In the Ladies J Burke and J Dickson scored an excellent 48 points to easily take the voucher.

I note that perennial sharp-shooter Bruce Byers was at it again, winning both the A grade ‘drive and pitch’ as well as the ‘super shot’ on the 7th. Well played Bruce.
