Pennant Preview

Week 3 of the Men’s Pennants is to be played tomorrow with the B Pennant away at Port Kembla in a match against Gerringong. The Gerringong season is on the line so they will be desperate to put in a good showing against our team. We will need to be on our game to get away with the points.

The C Pennant and the White Horse Cup “A” team both are at home with the C Pennant up against the experienced Port Kembla team and the White Horse Cup against the dangerous Russell Vale team. The C Pennant will again have to dig deep to get the home win they need to maintain their lead in the division. The “A” team also will need to play well.

The Cowpats are away at The Links Shell Cove playing against Port Kembla with another very close match looking likely.

Good luck to all of our teams.

Be ‘water-wise’!

Safety first is the order of the day when you are near the water. This is especially the case when you are searching for lost golf balls in our plethora of creeks and dams. Please be careful.

I have just received reports that a couple of our members have had close encounters with the dam on the 7th and also with Hyam’s Creek.

Apparently Norbert B spotted a good looking ball in the 7th dam just behind the 8th tee. Norbert expertly used his ball retriever to just about reach the free offering when he over-stretched and went right in! He came up with the ball and a grazed arm and a slight case of embarrassment.

Ladies captain, Margaret Cook, also discovered the joys of the water, not once, but twice in a charity round just before Xmas. Each time she was searching for a partner’s ball when she took the plunge into Hyam’s Creek. Margaret informs me that the water was nice at that time of the year.

Member Survey

It has been suggested that a $1 levy be placed on competition rounds to help fund a ‘course development fund’ so that we can improve the pathways around the course. This levy would be on top of the amount of money set aside for such projects in the budget and the levy would be for a period of 6 months.

Your input is sought by responding to the following survey.
