Sunday sees the mixed foursomes championships being contested at the club with several groups in with a big chance to claim the title. Last year’s champs, Liz Armstrong and Arthur Bosanquet are back and looking forward to defending their title. Good luck to all teams.
Sunday August 21 sees the mens’ foursomes scheduled to be played. The time sheet is available in the golf shop.
Tuesday 23 August sees the Ladies foursomes championships scheduled to be played. The booking sheet will be available from the ladies committee.
The club matchplay is also reaching an exciting stage with both individual and fourball comps nearing semi-finals.
Finally, don’t forget that the mens club championship will be held over 4 Saturdays in October.
The week in review
The weather has again been unkind to us with heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday and Thursday severely affecting our competitions. This was especially disappointing as it caused the cancellation of the Lady Veterans Open day on Thursday where 72 players were ready to play in the 3 person countdown event. Perhaps a later time in the year can be found to run this major event.
The Wednesday Drummond golf stableford was also severely affected with only 5 going out to play. Ron Chilby, fresh from a stay in hospital, made his recovery worth while claiming the Drummond Golf voucher.
The Ladies were also caught out in the rain as it descended on Jamberoo about 11 am on Tuesday. Most battled it out and keenly contested monthly medals were played out in each grade.
