Jamberoo Open

The field has shaped up and 100 have entered the Jamberoo Open. The field includes golfers of all ability levels as nett prizes are awarded as well as the overall gross. There are also prizes for players in each grade.

Welcome to our 60 odd visitors and to all play well and enjoy the day.

Firewood for Sale

With the recent windy weather that we have been suffering some trees have succumbed and the green staff have cut them up ready for use as firewood. If you would like some please ring the club on        4236 0404 and ask to be directed to Martin. Prices are $50 for a trailer load and $20 for a boot full. You will be required to load the wood yourself.

Members helping members

Chris Goodwin writes …

“I got up this morning and noticed there was a leak in the sink tap and decided that I needed a plumber. As I don’t know any local plumbers I resorted to the yellow pages to find someone local. Then I thought there must be a plumber in the Jamberoo Golf Club and wouldn’t it be great if I could support other members and still get the job done. So I’ve decided to set up the Jamberoo Professional Page on the JGC home page so that if you need a trustworthy professional simply go to our page and select whoever you need. If you are a professional and would like to be included at NO COST to you, simply contact the office with your details. Ideally, email your business name and a short description (one sentence/paragraph) of your services or business. Also provide a small portrait photo and/or business logo if available. Emails to golf@jamberoogolf.com.au

Careful where you drive

There was an incident recently near the 7th green where one of our members left his ride-on buggy so that he could putt out. Unfortunately for Graham the hand brake didn’t engage and all of a sudden his buggy, bag and possessions were heading for a bath. Graham grabbed the handlebars succeeding in saving the day but wretched his shoulder in the process. Needless to say his playing partners were quite amused in the proceedings.

This incident brings to mind the cart skills of recent ace-maker, Stu Potter. Apparently Stuart on a veteran’s trip away to Wellington ran into a sand box not once but twice. Stuart’s caring mates, the same as Graham’s above, awarded Stuart a trophy in the shape of a sand box as a reminder of his driving prowess.

Last Week’s Results

Well played to all those courageous golfers who battled the weather Wednesday and Saturday. On Wednesday 11 brave souls went out into the elements to play golf in very inclement weather. Up for grabs was the jackpotted super shot and Tony McRae was the man as he hit it close on 7 to take out the money. Well done Tony. Three of the others were not fazed by the rain recording nett 67’s. The best of them was from Jarrod Gehrmann who was the winner on a countback.

The ladies had a relatively calm day for their Ambrose competition and the winners were Annette Young and Judi O’Brien with a 62 nett.
