US Open Day

Who will be your ‘man’?

This Wednesday  your nett score will be added to the final round score of a pro to determine the Jamberoo US open winner. For a small fee of $2 you can enter and be in with a chance to win the pool.

Your pro partner will be drawn at random so everybody has a chance to get the’gun’ on their side.

Why not get that old- fashioned golf gear out and dress for the occasion?

The ‘Tony Pony’ dismounted!

At last Tony Rodriguez has tasted defeat finishing second on Wednesday. Martin Perry was the player who finally stopped the longest winning  A grade run seen at the club for years.

Take care around the course

With the wet conditions, some parts of the course are slippery and players should be wary where they walk. In the last week two members have hurt themselves in falls, so please don’t add to the statistic. Be careful especially when departing the tees. Use the steps!

A Consecutive Score

Surprisingly quite often, unusual things happen to the golfer on the course. Sometimes these are great things, like a hole-in-one or a chip-in or a long snaking putt. More usually it is something we would rather forget. This was the case for Kevin O’R last Saturday. He managed to have all scores from 3 to 10 on his card. Stoically, he still had a brave smile on his face at the end. It wouldn’t surprise to see things change for the better for Kev in his next round. Lets hope anyway.

Latest Results

The rain disappeared and the course was in great shape. The monthly medal was a great day especially and those members who didn’t play missed perfect dry conditions!

The results were interesting as well with the last putt of the day attaining John Ellsmore, to his great joy, the C grade medal.  The B grade medal was also a closely contested affair with Con Kiayias winning on a countback from Col Booth. Spending the week in his private gym at work almost did the trick for Col’s sore shoulder apparently. Geoff Boxsell made it back-to-back medals in D grade clearly with the intent of reducing the number of opponents in the Gold Medal playoffs in November.

The A grade was close as well with John Paul’s 66 from early in the day only succumbing to Will Hudson’s 65. Will played in one of the later groups and made a great ‘up-and-down’ on the last to claim the medal. That is the second time in a row that John has been pipped at the post for the medal. The low gross of the day, won on a countback from Will, may ease the pain somewhat.

Congratulations to this weeks winners.
