It has been a busy week at the course with our many competitions and the footgolf championships to boot.
The Board appreciates the patience and understanding of the members with the disruption to our usual routine and it was pleasing to see the number of members who strongly supported the championship and the number of volunteers who assisted. The championship appears to have been an overwhelming success both in raising our profile and in a financial sense.
A new computer server was installed on Friday and unfortunately it led to some teething problems with administration of Saturday’s comp. The printing of competition cards, the leaderboard display, links to golflink and member accounts and the ability of the scoring program to accept slope ratings were all affected. In fact it would only use GA handicaps rounded to the nearest whole. To make it consistent with what the computer was giving us we checked all cards and those members who looked up their daily handicap on the notices had them readjusted to their GA handicap.
An enormous thankyou goes to the wonderful volunteers who prepared the BBQ and sweets, cakes and devonshire teas. Many people exclaimed that the hand-prepared hamburgers were the best that they had ever had, and the scones were so good that John Hol, whose shop had baked the scones went back for seconds.
