Jamberoo Pennant teams undefeated

JAMBEROO pennant teams have continued their good starts to the season with the B squad drawing with Shoalhaven Heads at Russell Vale and the fearsome reputation of the C team being enough to scare off their scheduled competitors at Worrigee.

In their first outing of the year the White Horse Cup team had a resounding 6 & 1 Victory against Russell Vale at St Georges Basin.

B Pennant

Lance Fredericks reports:

Winners for Jamberoo were Matt Bell (3/2), Pete Munro (5/3) and Tom Persson (4/2).

Ken Bradley squared his match after being 3 down in the closing stages. The Russell Vale greens were very testing for all players. This is a pleasing result as all opponents were off lower handicaps than the Jamberoo team members.

Losing matches were played by Jaryd Byers, Adrian Bell and Jarryd Buckley.

Next week’s match is against Russell Vale at Port Kembla.

C Pennant

The Grange failed to show up for their first round match against the highly fancied Jamberoo C Pennant team. This means Jamberoo takes the win.

Left to their own devices and having made the long Sunday morning trip south of Nowra anyway, the C Pennant squad decided to play with themselves.

Fortunately, no outsiders were present to see this spectacle, but we do have a report:

Round 1 v The Grange 13th Feb 2011 at Worrigee.

The greatly anticipated, long-awaited first round turned out to be a fizzer. The Grange did not show. Result, Jamberoo win 7-0 on forfeit.

With 10 players present we decided to play each other in practice matches.

Ken Baker was up against Alex Hemmings, making his C Pennant debut. Congratulations Alex on an excellent round of golf with 3 birdies to defeat a gallant KB 4/3.

Warren Joannou and Scott Hainsworth, both in their debut seasons, played each other in another interesting match up. Warren played many excellent shots (should we say bottlers) but Scotty was too hot on the day also winning 4/3.

The other games were much closer affairs with all of them going the full 18 (16?) holes. Ray (flash) Orr and Colin (the saint) Booth played out a draw in a high quality match. The only unfortunate incident was the pretty picture Ray had taken by the “safety” camera in Nowra before the start of play. Ray is ‘fine’ with it however.

Paul (timbers) Hemmings and Tony (lefty) McRae also played a seesawing game with Paul winning the last to claim bragging rights. Chris (the hat) Leckey played against yours truly, losing 2 down. The difference in the end being Chris leaving his putts hanging on the edge of the hole whereas my putts were falling in.

The C Pennant playing group are all proud to represent their club and are keen to do well and achieve the best results that they can in the spirit of good sportsmanship, friendship and fun.

We greatly anticipate the game next weekend against Kiama for the “Town and Country” Cup at home.

Hope to see some fans there next Sunday, especially with the news that the cougar and the pup will both be playing. Tickets are available at the clubhouse, 8 am hit off.

Yours in golf, Dave (7/11) Ransom

The White Horse Cup team, comprising of Steve Jackson, Steve Robertson, Brad Jackson, Errol Stubbs, Peter Francis, Darryl Campbell and Tony Rodriguez, the newly elected team Captain, arrived at The Basin bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for our 1st game.
