Rod, our jovial starter, got an early start last month and managed to collect a significant number of memberships on the 7th September. For those who missed last month, the same arrangements will be in place this month. As a result the cost for October will be $17.00 and this includes your 2015/16 membership payment. If you played and paid last month your competition fees will remain at $12.00

Trevor Bell Shield

Our team put up a valiant showing at Port Kembla where the home side is notoriously difficult to overcome on such a long and tricky course. Course conditions were heavy after recent rains and we were further helped by preferred lies through the greens and all bunkers being GUR. As expected Port won the day with 219 points and Jamberoo were second with 213 points followed very closely by Kiama with 211 points. This result has separated the top three clubs from the pack and the winner will likely come from either Kiama, Port or Jamberoo with only two rounds remaining.

Although Port leapfrogged us into second place, we only trail them by 4 points and Kiama by 20 points. The last two rounds are at Russell Vale and Wollongong where Jamberoo had strong showings at both courses last year, so with Kiama starting to get the wobbles at the top, we are well in this competition to defend our 2014 title. Jamberoo’s best on the day were Chris Goodwin (45 points), Geoff Reynolds (38) and Brian O’Hare (38). They were followed by Peter Young (32), Karl Edlinger (31) and Ray Orr (29). With two rounds to play the progressive scores are:

Kiama                  968
Port Kembla       952
Jamberoo            948
The Grange         920
Wollongong        901
Links                    892
Russell Vale        830
The team to play at Russell Vale is Ron Chilby, Karl Edlinger, Chris Goodwin, Brian O’Hare, Ray Orr, Pat Paris, Theo Schmeider and Peter Young. The start times will be posted on the vets notice board as soon as they are received.
