Another perfect day on the course and several players were able to consolidate their good starts while others were able to move up the leaderboard.
In A Grade, Pete Munro has extended his lead with a second round of 76 to move 4 shots clear of the rest with a total of 149. Adrian Bell has fired the day’s best of 73 to move into 2nd position, while Ray Orr’s 76 has moved him into 3rd place, a further shot back. Ken Bradley and Steve Rippon share 4th on 155. Paul Hazeltine and Jarrod Gehrmann are still with a chance at 157. Andrew Craddock rounds up the top 8 on 159.
In B Grade, Tom Zimmermann has taken the lead after an 83 to finish round 2 on 163. Con Kiayias trails Tom by 1 after his 86. Chris Leckey and Darryl Campbell are well positioned on 172, while Greg Rodgers (173), Bruce Byers, Jim Henry and Brian Underwood all on 174 are also ready to mount a challenge.
In C Grade, Chris Goodwin has maintained his Trevor Bell Shield form to fire a very impressive 83 to take the lead with a total of 176. Mick Burton also played well to trail Chris by only 2 shots after his second successive 89. The consistent Alvin Ray has moved to 3rd on 180 while Bob Small (181), John Johnson (183), Warwick Drew ( 187), Ron Hewson (188) and Eddie Cram (189) are also close enough if good enough.
In D Grade, it is anybody’s tournament to win with several players close to the lead. Les Farkas and David Connon share the lead on 207, Allen Clark on 210 is third, John Hinks on 211 is 4th and Vince Byrnes is 4th on 213.
In the Nett section, A Grade is led by Ken Bradley jointly with Pete Munro on 133. B Grade is led by Tom Zimmermann on 137. C Grade is led by Bob Small on 133 while D Grade is led jointly by John Hinks and Vince Byrnes on 145.
The third Saturday is often called ‘moving day’, so it will be interesting to see which players can ‘move on up’ and which players can withstand the pressure. Good luck to all!
