President vs Captain Charity Day next Saturday

Each year the annual President vs Captain Charity Day is held on the last Saturday in May.

The format of the day is ‘Medal Stableford Matchplay’.

Each player is allocated into either the President’s team or the Captain’s team and play a stableford match against a fellow competitor in the group. President 1 v Captain 1 and P2 v C2.

The player with the largest stableford score after the 18 holes receives a point for their team, a drawn match gives a 1/2 point to each team and a loss gives zero points.

The team with the largest number of points is declared the winner. The Presidential team are the current holders of the bragging rights. Polite sledging is an expected part of each match!

The winning team nominate to which charity all money raised is allocated. In an interesting development this year the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation has been chosen by both teams as the worthy recipient.

JDRF Australia (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) supports the 127, 000 Australian’s who live with type one diabetes. JDRF’s mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.

Type one diabetes is a chronic auto-immune disease. There is presently no cure and people who live with type one diabetes must diligently manage their condition every minute of every day, checking their blood glucose levels, monitoring food intake and administering insulin several times a day to stay alive. Life with type one diabetes is a constant juggling act and JDRF’s vision is a world without type 1 diabetes.

The cost of the day is $20 for Jamberoo members and $29 for visiting members of other clubs. $4 of each entry fee is donated to the charity.

Champagne 9

Yesterday’s 4BBB Champagne 9 competition attracted our largest group of players, 22.

As per usual, the social gathering after the golf, saw numbers increase further.

Congratulations to all who participate is this Saturday competition and continue to make it such a success!
