American Foursomes Rules

Many members are looking forward to the playing of this fun, two person team event on Saturday 25th. Many have not played the game before and are curious as to the method of play.

Firstly, both team members tee off on every hole. Player A goes to player B’s tee shot and plays it, and player B goes to player A’s tee shot and plays that.

After this the team chooses one of the second shots as the team ball for the rest of the hole. If player A’s original ball is chosen then player B plays that ball as the team’s third shot. If player B’s ball is chosen then player A plays that ball as the team’s third shot.

From here the players alternate shots until the ball is holed.

The process starts again on the next tee.

[Both Players play from the tee, exchange balls and
play a further shot before playing alternately with the favoured ball until holed out].

Handicap is 3/8 of aggregate team handicaps.

This game is sometimes referred to as a Pinehurst or Greensomes if you live in the USA.

A fun, enjoyable game.
