Help needed.

The Seaside and Valley Veterans week of golf is set to be played from Monday 21st of November to Friday 25th.

Jamberoo will be the host club for the Monday and Friday of that week.

Any members who have some time to spare are requested to help out on the course as marshalls, starters, scorers or cooks on either of the two days. If you can help please contact Lance Fredericks by SMS on 0407 899 453 or complete the form on the starters desk at the club.

Your assistance would be most appreciated.

A trio of Champs.

Gail, Rhonda and Barb, in memory of their friend Deb McCloud, have raised $500 for Ovarian Cancer to increase the funds raised by our Womens Club to over $2000.

Three real champions.

2022 Monday Veterans Golf

Due to the incessant bad weather that swept the East Coast of Australia our golfing calendar was severely affected. Of the 48 Mondays that Vet members could play in the last season October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2022, 12 of those rounds were cancelled and for quite a few others golf carts were not permitted.

The published rules of the season were that “to be awarded an Xmas bonus a Vet golfer would need to play 12 rounds to qualify, 17 rounds to reach the first level and 30 rounds to qualify for the upper level”. These numbers equate to the approximate cost of goods at each level.

The Board of Directors felt that, given the 25% reduction in possible playing days, many vets would not have the opportunity to reach these levels.

The qualifying standard, level 1, will now become 9 games, level 2, 15 games and level 3, 24 games, allowing many more to reach the qualifying and other levels.

A complete list of members at each level will be published shortly and placed on the Noticeboards at the club.

Xmas Bonus Structure

It was also decided by the Board of Directors that given the uncertainty of pricing and delivery of goods and the lack of storage facilities at the club; it would be better if Club Vouchers be awarded instead of the awarding of goods as in previous years.

If you qualify in Level 1, then a $18 voucher will be awarded,

If you are in Level 2, then a $30 voucher will be awarded,

If you have reached Level 3 then a $48 voucher will be awarded.

These Vouchers will be available by 14 November from the Office.

Vouchers can be used for purchases in our golf shop; at the Jamberoo Valley Butcher shop, at the Fredericks IGA in Jamberoo, at Drummond Golf Shellharbour or at the Illawarra Golf Complex at Windang.

Alternatively, you can ask to have the vouchers credited to your trophy account to reduce your 2023 membership fees.

2022 Xmas BBQ

The annual Vets Xmas Comp and Party will be conducted on December 19. It will be a shotgun start, meeting at 7 for a 7.30 am hit-off.

The XMAS BBQ comp fee for Jamberoo Vet Members will be $10.00, Visitors $16.00 with 1/2 Hams as prizes and all invited to a free BBQ.

Raffles will be run as well with bottles of wine and boxes of chocolates as prizes.

2023 and the Future

The Board feels that the strength of our Veterans days is with members enjoying competition and fellowship with friends and fellow vets on our beautiful course, rather than a season long chase for a Ham. We would like to encourage members to enjoy as many rounds as possible and not have concerns of how many games they have played if weather intervenes again.

The Board believes that all should share in the benefits of Monday Veteran Golf.

Subsequently, from November 14 Competition fees will remain at the current amount with increased prizes and/or a larger extension of winners.

There will be at least 3 shotgun starts held in 2023 with free BBQs with $10.00 entries into the comps for Jamberoo Vet members and $16.00 for visitors.

The past system was a credit to its innovative designer and great kudos is deserved by Chris Goodwin.
