B & C Pennant teams start with a bang

AFTER their first round washouts, Jamberoo’s B and C Pennant teams had great starts to their playing seasons with strong wins on the weekend.

B Pennants beat St Georges Basin at Shellharbour Links 5 games to 2 while C Pennants easily accounted for Nowra at Moss Vale 5 ½ to 1 ½ .

B’s captain Ken Baker reported the team performed strongly after the disappointment of having to sit out the cancelled home game last week.

The B Pennant winners were Jarrod Gehrmann 2 up, Peter Munro 6&5, Bill Hudson 3&2, Tom Persson 2&1 and Ron McRea 4&3.

Their next match is against Shellharbour at Worrigee at 8am next Sunday.

C Pennants back in the winners circle

Thank God the C Pennant team were finally able to get back on the paddock and expend some of the anticipatory nervous energy that has been building up since their Grand Final loss last year – they surely couldn’t have endured another week of inspirational team talks.

C Pennants captain Dave (T2) Ransom Reports:

“The wait is over. The skies have cleared and we get the chance to test ourselves at last. Moss Vale Golf Club was the venue for the new C Pennant team’s debut for this season, and what a debut it was with our 4 new players all performing well in their first match for the club. Congratulations to Warrick (Bubba) Miller who won 3/2, Tom (Cougar) Zimmerman who won 2/1, and Big Paul Hemmings who won 1 up with a 16 meter bomb on the last.

Commiserations to Col Booth (Mr Cricket) who lost 3/2 dispite playing well.

Reliable Chris Leckey flogged his opponent 6/5, Peter Francis had a solid

2/1 victory and Tony (Lefty) Mcrae made his usual back nine charge to square his match. T2 even managed to play twelve holes against a Vincentia opponent defeating him 3/2 for a quantum of solace.

Well done to the team for a comprehensive 5.5 to 1.5 victory over Nowra.

We will need to be on top of our form against Moss Vale next weekend, who showed the advantage playing at home winning 6/1.”

The White Horse Cup team had a bye and will play The Grange at Port Kembla on Sunday.
