Jamberoo’s 2013 pennant teams firing

JAMBEROO’S pennant teams continued on their winning ways with the B and C squads both having good wins over Nowra on Sunday. Full reports are below.

The fearsome reputation of the White Horse Cup team is obviously getting to their opponents, with the competition cancelled for the second week in a row. At least the Cuppers didn’t have to make a dawn trip through tornadic conditions to Bowral to discover the cancellation this Sunday, as they did to sunny Sussex Inlet last week.

B PENNANT

Jamberoo consolidate Top of the table position…………..

THE Jamberoo B Pennants team continued to perform with a strong 4-1 victory over Nowra. The Shoalhaven Heads course was in great nick and provided the opportunity for some great golf to be played. The win sets up a top of the table clash in a fortnight at Kiama against the Links for a place in the final.

Results today were:

Jamberoo 4 & 1 v Nowra

Kiama v The Links – result not known

Shoalhaven Heads v Vincentia – result not known

Worrigee BYE

Next week Jamberoo have the BYE

Player Results were –

Adrian Bell 3&2 WIN

Paul Hazeltine 1up WIN

Tom Persson 4&3 WIN

Ray Orr 4&3 WIN

Jarryd Buckley 2down LOSS

Ray Orr started the day well leading 3up after 3 holes and, in a quality match where birdies were at times needed to halve a hole, continued to play strongly to eventually run out 4&3 winner – great result.

Tom Persson also found himself 3 up after the front 9 and ran out 4&3 winner on the back of some solid putting and good iron shots in a game where his opponent played some good pressure golf.

Jarryd Buckley found himself in a tight contest and although being Dormie 3 down continued the fight before losing 2 down on the 18th.

Paul Hazeltine found himself 4 up early but his opponent fought back to have Paul 1 down with 2 to go. Paul never gave in and took both the 17th and 18th to take the match 1up – great result.

Adrian Bell found himself in a real dogfight early on, only a few holes were halved and the match continuing to fluctuate before once again our No.1 put the pedal to the metal and continued his unbeaten run to come away with a strong 3&2 win – great result.

Thanks again to both Lance Fredericks and Pete Munro for making the trip down to support the side, much appreciated.

The side now have a BYE next week before taking on the Links at Kiama on Sunday 16th March.

C PENNANT

Jamberoo v Nowra @ Nowra  Golf Club 3/3/2013

Jamberoo 4, Nowra 1

Jamberoo tornado hits Nowra golf course.

WHAT a fantastic result for the “Cs” beating the home team and moving within one game of qualifying for the final.

Tremendous wins were recorded by Peter Francis 7/6, Tom Zimmermann 5/3, Tim Young 4/3, Arthur Bosanquet 3/2 and a 1 down loss to Chris Leckey.

Peter showed his class again and with his daughter as caddy was the 1st to finish with a big win, well done mate.

Chris had a tough day at the office @ no.2 and was unable to get to the lead all match. The boys were very polite not to mention that mine is the only loss the team has had this season. Thanks champs.

The ever reliable Tom was playing a big hitter but never threw in the towel and eventually wore him out with his sharp short game for another big win.

Our newest recruit Arthur continues to impress with a fine win. Reports on course were that Arthur was all square well into the back nine but “Boz” ground out a great win, well done

Tim’s face lit up when he got the 11th hour call up to play, and after an indifferent game at Shoalhaven Heads on Saturday was worried his form was poor. It’s a funny game golf as we all know and Tim eased in with a big win. A “super” performance.

Special thanks to Dave Ransom for his knowledge and advice to our players during the round and for his skills on the rake back at our club.

This was the game we were worried about in our quest for this year’s title and results of other club matches leave us on top of our division.

Keep it up and well done.

Chris Leckey
