Jamberoo Open

The Elders Real Estate Jamberoo Mens Open is round 11 of 17 events of the Advanced Truck Repair & Auto Care Open Series.

A very strong field has entered to play in this year’s event with several ex-champions keen to win the event again. There are also some young guns keen to have their named engraved on the Jamberoo Open Trophy.

With both Gross and Nett winners to receive a $250 Woolworths voucher, competition is certain to be hot with a score under par almost certain to be needed.

After your game enjoy a sausage sandwich and some liquid refreshment. The bar will be open.

Good luck and play well to all competitors.

Competition Terms and Conditions from September 7

Golf Australia, Golf NSW and Jamberoo Golf Club consider that any form of disadvantage/discrimination is unfair and should be confronted and eliminated. Acting on advice from Golf Australia and Golf NSW the Match Committee has decided to act on one such situation. It is the allocation of competition prizes. As everybody pays the same entry fee into a handicap competition then everybody should have the same access to prizes no matter what their standard or grade.

To this end prizes for Saturday and Wednesday competitions will be determined the same way we presently handle smaller comp fields with less than 70 players – as a medley. The number of prizes will still be determined by the number of entrants, only the prizes will be allocated according to the best scores on the day rather than the best scores in each grade. This will remove the possible inequity of players in one grade missing out despite having better scores than others in another grade who get a prize. The real situation of  players in a smaller grade getting less than other grade winners despite having a better score will also be addressed by this new procedure.

On checking historical results data it seems that most players who won under the old discriminatory scheme will still be awarded a prize using the new scheme.

The monthly medals will still be allocated in grades but the comp of the day will be held as a medley on merit using the above procedure.

The same applies to the Club Championships. The event will be held in grades but each daily event will be held as a medley.

As ladies play a different course with a different par to the men their comp will be run separately.

Latest Results

Plenty of opportunities this week to play in a comp and many members and visitors took advantage of the fine weather.

Last Saturday not one but two hole-in-ones were recorded. The first was by a social player who aced the 7th hole.It was his first hole-in-one and he was chuffed! The second was recorded on the 11th by regular visitor Peter Webley in the competition. Peter played a lovely 5 iron to draw it around the tree and into the hole. Well played Pete.

Congratulations to this week’s winners.
