Charity Day Success

The Ladies Ovarian Cancer Charity Day attracted 84 starters last Tuesday and over $2400 was raised for this worthy charity. Congratulations to the Ladies organising committee and the dedication of our members to help out and provide an excellent day of golf and apres-golf function.

A Shot to Remember

Paul O’Leary achieved every golfer’s dream last Wednesday when his beautifully struck 9 iron landed perfectly on the 13th green and went in the hole for an ace. Well played Paul. As a momento, the ball Paul used will be mounted as a trophy for a permanent reminder of his perfectly played shot. The club will also give Paul 6 balls as a reward for his great shot. Congratulations.

Rule of the Week

I was watching a group play the 4th hole last Wednesday when I noticed that one of the tee shots clattered into the trees on the left and dropped in the water. The question is : How should that player have proceeded?

A: Taken a drop in the centre of the fairway away from the trees;

B: Keeping the point of entry in line with the flag, taken a drop on this projected line and played from this point;

C: Crossed over to the other side and played from there; or

D: From the point of entry go straight back as far as needed to find a gap and then take the drop.

Green Repairs

The repairs to the greens caused by the contaminated soil are proceeding on schedule. One thing you can do to help is to avoid walking on those sanded areas where seed has been added.
